Wii Controller Details Leaked! |
Ó

The documentation for the controller that developers have been using has leaked out and we have details here for you today!
- Uses 2 AA batteries
- 30 hour battery life if pointer function is being used
- 60 hour battery life if only accelerometer is being used
- Communicates with Wii via 2.4 GHz Bluetooth signal
- Contains 6KB non-volatile memory (purpose unknown - maybe stores custom settings?)
- SYNCHRO button on Wii does the same thing as 1 and 2 buttons the WiiMote
- Each controller is given a wireless ID number
- A, B, 1, 2, -, +, Home, Power, C, and Z button are all digital (not analog)
- Sensor Bar is placed below or above TV
- Sensor Bar is 20 cm in diameter
- Sensor Bar has a sensor on each end which interacts with WiiMote
- LEDs on WiiMote used to indicate battery life as well as which controller slot it corresponds to
- 4 LEDs flashing on startup means 75% - 100% battery life
- 3 LEDs flashing on startup means 50% - 75% battery life
- 2 LEDs flashing on startup means 25% - 50% battery life
- 1 LED flashing on startup means 0% - 25% battery life
- Halogen lamps, Fluorescent lights, light from plastic or mirrors can affect the WiiMote's capabilities
- To combat this, WiiMote needs to first register the coordinates of the two sensors on the sensor bar
"Interestingly, according to documentation the Wii-mote is able to act as something of an eye, measuring coordinates between 0-1023 on the X axis and 0-767 on the Y axis, which means that it is more or less seeing a megapixel image. Whether or not this data can be interrupted into visual information remains unknown, but we're not ruling out the possibility that the pointer could sub as a camera. This is, of course, purely speculative on our part, but stranger things have certainly happened - like, for instance, an internal speaker."
Hopefully we'll learn more about the Wii's controller in the coming months!

I thought the 6k of memory was for sound storage? Supposedly, I guess the tiny sound files (such as a bow and arrow sound effect) get sent to the controller at some point while playing the game...and they get used from there.
no rechargeable batteries :(
they probally do a play and charge kit like microsoft did with their controller so that you can charge the controller so no worries
AA batteries are brilliant! You just get yourself 4 rechargable ones... Whenever they go dead, you insert the other two and put the dead ones in the recharger. You'll be able to play continuously, no worries. :)
Still looking for a new battery charger to purchase. Could use it for my wavebird and gadgets. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002IWC9C/ This one looked rather interesting. Or can anyone recommend another?
THATS SO GAY AA bateries ..thats gay. they shud realese rechargeable bateries with the console
LONG LIVE PS3 CONTROLLER LMAO! nah only kidding, yeah its a shame its batteries, but i bet there be some sort of catch with it, like nintendo has a offer where u can charge them within mins or some crap like that, they'll do something. Seems kool to me, 2.4ghz bluetooth, nice i wonder what the ps3 is?
Number six, you are a moron. A shame to see you ignorant teenagers flooding the internet at summer time. Rechargeable batteries cost next to nothing, and can be used for anything else.
I though they were comming out with a charger cradel that could plug into the bottom of the Wiimote, and charge them. AA batteries is going into the past, not the future...if Nintendo hasnt noticed, more and more electronics are using rechargable batteries ( where you plug a wire into it to charge ). IMO, this *****ing sucks :(
"I though they were comming out with a charger cradel that could plug into the bottom of the Wiimote, and charge them." That was always a rumor. Is this information even confirmed? I don't even care. I have a *****load of rechargable batteries.
well i guess the cycle of life lives on, to all those Wii fanboys who trashed the PS3 because they copied a feature in the Wii ( Note: "a" ) the Wii isnt doing any better for them selves. Check out the link http://www.gwn.com/articles/article.php/id/745/
