Despite being a budget title, Wii Chess is holding its own against the other big Wii video games and is making quite an impression itself. We guess the classic board game coupled with the console's charm is really something worth any gamer's time.

Anyway, we managed to get you a couple of more new screenshots for Wii Chess in case you missed our last coverage on it. Aside from looking nice, Nintendo also packed in several features like local multiplayer, online options, and other game modes.

Wii Chess is expected to hit European retail shelves on January 18 for around US$ 29.99. While Nintendo has yet to reveal any details about the U.S. version of the game, it was mentioned that it will be released as well in the region during Q1 2008.

wow

Those graphics are horrible! I've seen far better homebrew games! That game isn't worth $10, yet alone $30. How long was the development time? 2 Hours?

hmm

Chess online on the Wii.. cool start since not a lot of Wii games have realtime multiplayer gameplay yet. But chess as the sole game of the package..? They should have thrown in at least a dozen board games because there doesn't appear to be much reason to buy the Wii version when you can play the same game on Yahoo! Games, or pretty much anywhere else, for free. Hopefully they'll at least throw in some chess variations to make things interesting.. Either way though, not a game I plan on picking up any time soon.
