Wii backup loader finds its way onto the net

Wii-loader - Image 1Apparently (purposely?) leaked by a beta tester, it's buggy, temperamental, and still definitely in beta, but it's out here.

So does this make the Wii the last next gen console to be cracked? What will Nintendo's response be?

If you feel the need to try it out, please only do so utilising backups of Wii discs that you actually own, and be sure to exercise caution!

Thanks for the tip canadianbacon.

Some kind TOTURIAL would be nice.

by DigiTalDeaD - 2008-09-19 02:02
» Well..

This worked fine for me, using Beach Sports.

You must have the CIOS installed, as well as DVDX with advanced setting IOS249 installed.

» stupid leaker

f**k you whoever leaked this, you just couldn't wait until it was finished. DUMB A**!

how do you actually rip the games, and do you need to burn them a certain way?

by lee123 - 2008-09-19 02:26
» OMFG

what a *****ing prick, why leak it?, now hes never gonna update this, so when nintendo start changing the code in future games, it wont work and no one will update it to make it compatible.

all i can say is well done to who ever leaked it you must be really proud of yourself, for ruining the most anticipated peice of homebrew

as for the rest of us i suggest we do some serious groveling to waninkoko, to try and pursuade him to carry on working on it

by Stinky_1 - 2008-09-19 02:33
» ...

so, now its time to theorize. Who knows what really happened?

Did wani tell the beta testers if it was leaked he would stop support of it. So one of the testers is faithful to Bushing and Co so he figured that was a good way to stop it?

Did Wani leak it himself so that he could say that he was stopping support because of external pressure, hate mail, death threats etc?

Did Bishing get his hands on it, leak it, then persuade Wani to stop it?

Did the tester just want a broader testing circle to return errors faster?

Personally, I bet you there were certainly some threats made against Wani for this, and since he didnt want to back down he just released what he had so the public would have something that worked, then he pretends he is mad at the leaker and has dropped support.

How much you wanna bet that source code gets leaked, then all of a sudden a "new" coder shows up named Okokninaw and completes it!? or, maybe keep it simple and call himself M33

by MahSixFo - 2008-09-19 02:41
» Okay I need to say something..

Hahahahahahahah ahaaahhhhh!!!

Good times.

by Matt-N - 2008-09-19 04:44
» A Genuine Question...

I don't know anything about the politics of homebrewing, and what is involved - apart from that a lot of hard work goes into it.

Anyway, my question is: Why would the leak of a piece of unfinished software lead to it being abandoned? Why don't he just carry on and complete it?

Like I said, this is a genuine question, so don't flame me.

Thanks.

by rahul002 - 2008-09-19 05:09
» So what?

Its not like the source code got released so i dont think this should be so serious.

Wankiko could be having some fun with us!

by greatone690 - 2008-09-19 06:27
» please

i so hope he is jokeing i'm so hopeing now every1 has it people mite get off his bk to finish it!!! and he can now work in peace

by Artemisk - 2008-09-19 07:00
» Geez

It's not like he isn't getting any credit for it, whats the big deal? So a few million people will be able to beta test it instead of the however many people that were picked. It's just a beta wankiko, get over it and finish what you started.

by BIH - 2008-09-19 07:23
» lol

Its funny to watch all the pathetic idiots cry because they cant pirate a few games.

"Meeeeh Plz Dnt Stop teh project Wanin"

Get a modchip if you want to do that instead of crying over something that may or maynot get finished.

The only one to blame here is wanin should have been more carefull to who he released the Beta version to.

1. i dont support this but im not getting into that

BIH and Stinky_1

yous are idiots, more so BIH

if people didnt develop any piece it would mean modchips would never have been created

your logic is its already possible, well theres plenty of benefits to soft mod

doesnt void warranty (technically ....)

prevents idiots from ruining there wii

also your logic is why carry on support for modchips

PLEASE STFU

stinky, i know what your on about and the last thing will probably happen

but the reasons why it would happen, doesnt make sense, although it would be something similar

also stop winning the lot of yous, do you think this will stop

by Tekkenlord - 2008-09-19 08:29
» wow the voice of reason

emcp i think too u are a homo and all the other idiots crying over this besides U ARE THE ONE making no fu*ki*ng sense,

""f people didnt develop any piece it would mean modchips would never have been created"""

""prevents idiots from ruining there wii

also your logic is why carry on support for modchips""

WTF is that suppoused to mean? the guys that developed modchips little kid didnt do it for "altruism" or to be "benelovent" to others they did it for $$$$ cash, billetes, dinero, even before the oh so great waninkoko did a sh*t i alredy played wii backups and so what?

and "prevent idiots from ruining THEIR Wii" i mean do we care? do we give a penny if any jerk open its wii and kill it? leeme think the answer... NO!!! U JACKASS

oh and in the end u try, and i mean try cuz your english SUCKS, to tell the same sh*t BIH said "QUIT THE WINNING MORONS"

"also stop winning the lot of yous, do you think this will stop"

so are u an idiot? or are u just permanently brain damaged? gee!!!

by BIH - 2008-09-19 08:42
» Lolz again

1) Please make that poor excuse for english readable astleast.

SoftMods do void warranty idiot. You can still brick with this is has alot of bugs and people can mess up on the install process.

Please read up a little on the Wii scene ;)

by jamiecruickshank - 2008-09-19 08:45
» Wow this sint what this is about.

Come on people, dont ***** at each other instead we should be asking and begging Waninkoko to continue the project, he is done sooo much good work and we are missing the point. Yeah we can get a modchip etc etc but Waninkoko has put so much effort into this.

I feel sorry for him.

Waninkoko work is great with the Region patches for ISO's and for the Wii firmware.

You should be praising his work rather than flaming him and other people.

by pen1212 - 2008-09-19 09:01
» all just a PR stunt

That guy released his own code.

His only way of making it public, without getting treats directly from Nintendo..

So do not expect too much, than showing it was possible..

Other will release same solution soon, why do you think he did this?

by Tekkenlord - 2008-09-19 09:03
» i know u are right

but even so the game waninkoko is playing is "praise me or not" i mean if the guy wants to release something fine if he wants to give something others can use perfect the thanks will come but if he is just teasing with "look what i have here" but know that u look u can have it" i mean thats SICK thats IDIOTIC and thats BULLSH*T and anyone that go to his site and start beggin for something is just a moron and have no self respect, if he wants to dvelop something for the "community" i told you FINE but if he wants to "elevate to a "quasi-god status" only for some *****ty loader, pardon me, pardon me but the hell with the jerk, do i see Dark Alex saying ---oh my.oh my someone "leaked" my work oh then im not doing anything anymoreeee, shame, shame-- do i? do i see it? NO so if he wants to "stop or start" or to eat or go to the bathroom well go ahead, but dont start that queerish satements of "oh my, oh my shame on you shame shame" cuz please

Modchips cost $250 dollars in aus for someone to install, personally i don't feel like spending that amount of money when i COULD of had wanninoko's tool. Can everyone stop raving and ranting about how pissed they are and stop areguing, and just ASK wanninoko if he will PLEASE continue the project? after all, its just like having a beta release and then releasing the actual version.

by BIH - 2008-09-19 09:33
» ....

$250 do you live in the middle of nowhere?

Modchips arnt that expensive and not that hard to install if you have the older drives where you can use a Wiikey which is dirt cheap now and very easy to install. Or use a WiiClip if you cant solder.

still not sure why I am being called out? I didnt complain at all!

Now, on to the teaser. Wani had NOTHING to do with the teaser vid. He gave Linkinworm on gbatemp the files to test. And he gave them to one other person. Linkinworm put the video up, and wani asked him to NOT mention his name at all on it. for whatever reason he didnt WANT the glory for this. At least not yet. Linkin just wanted everyone to want what he had. I dont know if it made him feel special, or what.

Because of that I am sure that Linkin did not leak it. I am still putting my finger on Wani leaking it himself, or one of the other guys that just got it from MSN.

I think the install has too many steps, and is currently too buggy for the average user. All the sites that talk about how to run it are going VERY slow, or have removed all the links all together. So, something in the scene is happening. I am not sure what. but I know at 6 am this morning there were a LOT more active links that talked about this. They are dropping quickly though, or bottlenecking up. I wonder if They think by removing the host files Wani will complete it?

One way or another it WILL be completed. As long as the patcher works (which it does) the actual wii program side of things could be completed by anyone.

Still trying to figure out emcp's post about me though.
