Nintendo head honcho Reggie Fils-aime was interviewed in CNBC, and here he talked about what they, as a company, have to do in order to sustain the phenomenal interest of consumers in their product.

Reggie maintained that their price cut was not a response to Microsoft and Sony's own price cuts, but that instead, it was for their preparation for the holiday season. Will they need to cut prices again in order to lure in more customers? Reggie thinks they don't need to anymore. They've got the value for consumers' money, and value is what customers are willing to spend for.

Walmart is my biggest customer, when talking about my region which is Canada, US, and Latin America. What we see across the world is the same as the US, consumers are very hesitant to spend and when they do they are doing it thoughtfully. As a consumer product manufacturer we have to step it up and keep delivering great experiences.

» More

More Wii Sports, Wii fit and Guitar Hero! That's what all parents and grandparents play on the Wii (the rest of us are playing 360 or PS3).

» I always think...

... that Reggie is quite well spoken. He never seems to say much other than marketing, but I always like listening to what he says and the snippets of insight he gives to the industry.

» Great strategy!

$299 Wii? Wasn't it $199?

Their price comparison chart doesn't mention the $199 XBOX, why?

On to reggie's BS....

Time the price cut with the release of nintendo's KEY PRODUCT, recycled Wii fit plus

WOW, pure genius.

Retailers are telling you consumers are "very excited" about it? Really? They must have felt delivering that message was very important.

"What we have is great software"

then he discusses wii fit plus.

"As long as we have this great drum beat of new software we'll be able to motivate the consumer."

then he mentions the "new" recycled mario brothers.

That's it, two (2) games mentioned, both heavily recycled, that will drive holiday sales, sure.

"We have to keep innovating. A great example of that is the DSi"

HA HA HA!! That obsolete, overpriced POS with tacked on useless kiddie features?

According to him, any new product is innovative and an incredible value somehow.

I guess if he told the truth or didn't make such lame games seem revolutionary he would be fired.
