This is not gaming news, but it is news about gamers. A nice slow break from the fallout of GDC 2007 news we've had to deal with. Anyways, Aaron Linde of Destructoid pointed out a troupe of geekish creatives who pays tribute to several classic and contemporary franchises with their amazing "1337 Pantomime" performance.

Several gaming traditions/norms/cliches are hilariously glorified by their creative performance. With the increasing presence of performances like these, and audience acceptance and recognition - just listen to the laughter and the roars when the Final Fantasy VII Battle Theme kicked in, or when the dude started blowing into the cartridge, or when the Zelda starts to roll - it only proves that gaming is starting to enter the social mainstream.

Yeah, money-wise it's been mainstream for years now. But now when you do a pantomime that celebrates geek glory, people love you.

take your rants and goto hell.

This is stupid. first thing i read was "killzone 2 must be super good because the budget for this is $21 million when gears of war needed $9 million"

9$ million is a considerably small amount for production. Why? well the engine its on Unreal Editor 3 was pre-made and developed for a different title. Why was it so cheap to make? well for one good reason, it was all done inhouse, something Sony lacks. Epic makes everything for their team to create games. UE3 was partially developed by Cliffe, pathetic rants need justification. The reason Killzone 2 is gunna cost so much is because its being developed on a much harder API, Gears runs on a DX9 API in cooperation with the UE3 engine, the engine was developed on that API alone, Coded for any Windows based OS. Why would epic need to license their own engine to make their own games, get bent.

just because a game costs alot of money doesnt mean it will automatically be good, gears beats the ***** out of everything on ps3, and theres more games even better than gears coming to xbox 360, (blue dragon, lost oddesy, too human, mass effect, two worlds, alan wake, thesis, huxley) and more, so take ur blu ray bull***** and shove it up ur ass

I second that. I really do dislike Gears now. It was fun a long time ago, and now it is boring and repetitive

Last time i checked that battle theme was from FF8 and not from FF7..

What's up with people on QJ mixing up FF's roman numbers

Its Final Fantasy 7 its the most classic music theme from a Final Fantasy game in history. Its even more popular than the old nes and snes games music. So dont say Qj is bad.

Haha, funny little skit.

and hey MERSPKIS, don't say "theres more games even better than gears coming to xbox 360" and then list a bunch of unreleased titles. That's just silly.

BTW I own a PS3, but not a 360 and I think Gears is an awesome game, and yes it does beat the ***** out of every title in the PS3 game lineup.

I remember the battle theme coming from FF7, but I've never played FF8, maybe it's in both.

The pantomime was not very good at all. I would hope that if some group of people were to in any way represent gamers, that they would be better than this. Hopefully some one else can come along and do it much better than these guys.

I dont know why poeople are arguing about xbox360 and ps3.....they both suck.
