"We can learn from Wii", says Microsoft Japan

Wii - Image 1Microsoft Japan acknowledged Nintendo Wii's success in the gaming business, with Microsoft's managing director Yasutoshi Magara saying that Nintendo successfully figured out how to bring more consumers into computer gaming.

In contrast, Magara also said that Microsoft tried to accomplish the same thing for years, but fell short of achieving that goal.

The Xbox 360 is mostly aimed at 18 to 30-year-old males, while the Wii was aimed towards those who prefer family-friendly gaming and the casual gaming market. "It was very well accepted," said Magara about the Wii.

While Microsoft's executive officer Takashi Sensui acknowledged the wan appreciation of the Xbox 360's software library by the Japanese, Microsoft is making considerable effort in salvaging their place in the Japanese gaming industry. They will be releasing a total of 250 games for Xbox 360 before the year ends, and most probably will include the RPG titles promised by Sensui.

Apparently 10 million consumers beg to differ. If it sucked then I doubt they'd want to follow in the Wii's footsteps.

I can see that Microsoft is trying to appeal to the Japanese market by releasing Japanese RPGs exclusive to the 360. These would be Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. The developers are well known Japan because they've been creating great RPGs through their career. I'm surprised that not a lot of Japanese gamers play Ninja Gaiden though. Yeah the Japanese were probably enjoying Sigma on their PS3s, but they wouldn't buy a 360 for Ninja Gaiden 2. They'd just wait for Devil May Cry 4 to come out on the PS3. But then again, do the Japanese like shooter games? I mean, the 360 is mostly all about shooters such as Gears of War, Bioshock and one of the most anticipated games of all, Halo 3. With great hits like these, one has to wonder why the 360 doesn't do well in Japan. And a perfect answer to that is that the Japanese market don't really play shooters, aside from Metal Gear of course.

when the family oriented parents/children lead a happy life of fun and tight families, you will grow up and have an emo kid who is obsest with shooting aliens, blood, and will want nothing to do with you.

But honestly, why buy an xbox when all the games 'worth anything' are going to computer sooner or later. Computer has a friend list, computer has a gaming community, chances are computers wont be outdated when your xbox is dusty in the attic.

What goes around comes around apparently. Once again you fail to comprehend market acceptance.

Either way, it'll fail in Japan.

The Wii sucks? Whoa, dude, that is soooo smart. But I think you have your work cut out for you, what with trying to convince 12 million people otherwise.

Good luck, smarty!

makes me wanna make a Hitler mii.. Miitler, hahahaha. Course I'd have to take my wii out of the box and set it up again as I stopped playing mine when my 360 refurb arrived.

I'll say that the innovative controls were very very fun. Something about drawing your sword over your shoulder and hearing that Ssshhhhiiiiiiin g!!! was badass. Graphics were lacking though. And my main complaint is that horrible god-awful redundant music on the WiiSports.

I don't like playing arcade games. I want to sit down on my couch, turn on my bluetooth headset and play some good online games. Like warhawk and RFOM.

I would rather get the core 360 than a friken wii.

Seriously, my friend has one and only turned it on once in like 5 months. He bought Metroid Prime.

Atleast 360 and PS3 have an actual online network.

I am sorry that due to your low IQ and poor reasoning skills you failed to understand my comment.

(I got the poor reasoning skills from your post, and your low IQ by your utter lack of any arguement, and need to resort to foul language.)
