Wii ISO loader creator not bailing out after all? - Image 1Well, it's no wonder Team Twiizers is so secretive with their codes.

The Wiibrew community was all "hurrah" over waninkoko's Wii ISO Loader when it was leaked, causing him to turn his back on the project altogether.

Talking to fellow developer Hermes, author of Guitarfun and Wiiengine, Waninkoko explains what got him so riled up (thanks to the translation from TehSkeen):

Waninkoko

It wasn't the leak what pissed me off the most, but all the people downloading it, sharing it, making tutorials, and such. I recognize that 50% of that is my fault and... i think i'm gonna reconsider the cancelation (well, the bit about making it public because canceled it's not XD).

Hermes

Erm, i'm sorry to say, but i'll just give you two collejas XD . It is something that you should be VERY careful and not give away anything that carries your nick/name to ANYONE, not even the cat c'mon, that can give you trouble. Above all, it is your fault XD

As the post states, waninkoko is fortunately reconsidering coming back to the project, although I doubt he'll be sharing his codes with anyone anymore once he does.

if you do this the wii will be considered a dead console.

just like ps2 i used to pirate all the time but it makes the games boring when you have all the games at yo fingertips.

and it hurts devs and nintendo.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Are you nuts? The PS2 is the all time #1 console EVER. It still sells at a fast rate EVEN TODAY.

So, WTF are you talking about?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Well, it looks like waninkoko's little publicity stunt worked! He got lots of press and exposure. Exactly what he intended from the very beginning with his little temper tantrum.

50% his fault? HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! !! What an idiot.

It's NOT hurting Nintendo. they are selling more consoles. Maybe they sell less software but the hardware sales will go up. The wii console is not subsidized like the PS3 or the Xbox 360. They are making money of the console itself.

besides, even if the Wii sells NO consoles at all from now on, there is still a HUGE way before either the PS3 or teh Xbox 360 catches up to the Wii. So calling it a dead console just because it's hacked is ridiculous.

» nah

regardless, not *everybody* will be downloading and burning stuff. installing the home dev channel is tricky and dangerous enough, and that alone will put some people off. piracy will indeed hurt a good decent chunk of the sales, but it wont kill neither the console, neither developers.

to be honest, i still dont see why a wii game costs most of the time the same as a 360/ps3 game -- which in theory needed more effort from a bigger team, therefore higher expenses to develop.

i myself would buy more official games if they costed half of what they do at sales point. most of the time i dont find a great deal even by buying on ebay.

» One big suggestion

Let us boot backups off USB drives. Wii's DVD drive sucks ass

Ya thats true, plus it would seem to be cheaper, we wont have to buy more DVD's to burn and, ya...

Wow...how funny. You are sooooooo original.

Because, you know, I've NEVER seen anyone do THAT before!

That would be kewl to but it would cater to fewer people.

by GhostSonic - 2008-09-25 12:02

They would have to figure out how to activate usb 2.0 first sense the wii's ios only uses 1.1, which has a slow transfer rate. Playing ios over a network isn't a bad concept, but I doubt that loading times and such would be bearable

can this be used to load up burned gc games??

or multi game burned dvds full of gamecube games?
