Here's some good news for the shooter fans out there who love their virtual console games. In addition to our recent announcement Super R-Type for the virtual console, there are two other shooters slated for release on the Wii via the virtual console: King's Knight and Final Soldier.
For those who don't remember the two games, here's a quick recap of the two.
Square Enix's King's Knight was originally released on the NES and MSX in 1986. In the game, you were one of four adventurers tasked with rescuing a princess from the Evil Dragon. Instead of being an RPG, however, the game is actually a vertically-scrolling shooter with some RPG-ish elements, such as the collection of special items and level progression.
Hudson Soft's Final Soldier, on the other hand was a top-down shooter for the TurboGrafx 16. It's essentially a title in the Star Soldier series but was made exceptional by the number of weapons you could use in-game at the time (12 different weapon loadouts).
In any case, we'll update you on the release dates for these games as soon as the dates are announced. In the meantime, you may want to practice your hand-eye coordination.
