We've gotten our hands on the teaser trailer for Street Fighter IV, one of the big announcements at the Gamer's Day event in London from Capcom. There is gameplay footage in the video, but we do get a look at Ken and Ryu, the twin guns of the franchise. The video features a stylized sparring bout between the two fighters.

It's expected to show up on next generation consoles, but platform availability has yet to be officially announced for Street Fighter IV. Keep checking back here for more updates. In the meantime, enjoy the video below.

» NICE!

I wish it had a touch of that in the fight scenes, yet at the same time I don't. as it would be too Okami-ish. Which is cool, but not sure for a fighter.

either way, i love the watercolored-watered down effect of this

I'm totally in love with the visual style of this teaser ._.

Wonder if any of this will be implemented in the game, guess not.. but a man can hope, can't he ?

» I don't see why not...

with a very good art team, that is in very good sync with the programmers, there is no reason this could not be in-game play.

Obviously the camera would not be so dynamic/eratic....but the grungy models and special effects could be done.

Also, when they show closeups of the face, you can already see the 3D models pretty easily. This also would not be a great leap from the bleach fighting games on PSP, just much more detailed and better SFX because of the platform(s) the game would be on.

However, if they did go this direction, it would be a huge leap from the current SF aesthetic and may alienate some fans....but I mean, if you want oldschool SF, there are only just over a million different versions on different platforms you can play....

» Thank god

it's not in 3D. it'd be garbage... anyone remembers SF:EX? lmao...

but yes, the art direction in this game is definitely bad @$$. i hope they bring back more familiar faces.

» wow

It's about damn time.

Soul Calibur ages to IV, Mortal Kombat goes to VII. Tekken goes to 6. Dead or Alive goes to 5. Virtua Fighter goes to 5. Hell, there's even word of a Killer Instinct 2! It only makes sense to finally bring this to development.

» kewl

hope it's in 3D

» 3d

3d would suck, sf is a 2d game period

» please don't be full 3D!

I really really hope they make this a side scrolling fighter. it could be cool if it was 3D but only if it was 2D side scrolling like the original games. If they go full 3D like tekken and soul caliber I think it would suck. (remember SF EX?) My favorite Mortal Kombat game has to Trilogy because it was the last one to have almost every character but still be 2D Side scrolling. Ever since MK went 3D I have not liked it at all. To wrap it up, SF IV really should be side scrolling with 3D characters. That would be awesome. (And MK should go back to 2D side scrolling with 3D characters...)

» excellent teaser

Street Fighter II Turbo for sega genesis made SF wot it is 2day(well 4 me at least). Sonic BOOM! Hadorken!

Catchy phrases and popular too back in the days.

How cud i miss Street Fighter III?

» true

changing from 2d to 3d totally changes the concept of the franchise. Tekken started with 3d so therefore its fine. But MK definetly was not the same/as gd as orignal MK (trilogy)
