News broke earlier about how Harmonix wanted to release more than 5,000 songs as DLC for Rock Band by the end of the year. Epic? Yes. Possible? Nuh-uh. Harmonix was contacted to set things straight and guess what? It was a misunderstanding.
The quote was taken from Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopolous during an interview at CES 2009. Back then, his quote was: "Â…as the catalog expands from 500 songs to 5,000 songs or whatever in the coming yearsÂ…weÂ’re going to be less constrained from a genre standpoint." It certainly doesn't sound like he was making promises.
So someday, in the far, far future, when Super Saiyans exist once more, we'll probably have over 5,000 songs for Rock Band (360, PS3). Right now, we'll have to content ourselves with the 600 or so songs they do have.

No, it was 5,000 (three zeros). And this news didn't break "earlier". This news broke a few weeks ago. We all thought it was BS then, we thought it was BS yesterday and according to today it was nothing but....BS.
