Gate of Thunder - Image 1We reported yesterday that Hudson Soft and Nintendo are bringing that old classic shooter from the Turbografx days Super Air Zonk to the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. If you liked that, you'll be even happier that Gate of Thunder and Samurai Ghost are following as well.

Like Super Air Zonk, Gate of Thunder is a side-scrolling 2D shooter which used the Turbo CD medium on the Turbo Duo system to deliver a presentation advanced for its time. The sequel became pretty popular for platform owners, and a sequel called Lords of Thunder followed it up. All of the aforementioned titles were developed by Red Entertainment.

Samurai Ghost, on the other hand, was a non-CD Turbografx title release which featured one the early 90s most visually appealing action experiences. Like the other two titles, it was published by Hudson Soft with some critical acclaims, though commercial response wasn't exactly stellar.

If you want to catch up on three important bits of gaming history, this trifecta of Hudson Soft releases will surely satisfy you. Gate of Thunder is worth 800 Wii points while Samurai Ghost will be worth 600 Wii points. An October 2007 launch was stated, though exact dates were not specified.
