VC Europe Update: Wrecking Crew, Lunar Pool, and Neutopia |
Ó
It's time to don those rose-tinted glasses once again as we get our weekly retro fix from Nintendo by way of the Wii's Virtual Console channel, and this update is for the guys and girls over at Europe's side of the world. So, without further adieu, let's get to the selection of games that are available for download this week!
First up is Wrecking Crew, featuring none other than Mario in one of his many occupations (besides princess-saving plumber). Players step into his shoes to figure out the most efficient route in the mazes of ladders, doors and platforms, all the while destroying everything in his path with a sledgehammer and avoiding the occasional eggplant-shaped enemy.
While we know that Mario's as gentle as can be to his friends, we couldn't help but feel that the mustache-wielding plumber seems to have just too much fun. Maybe it's all the stress building up from rescuing Peach every time she gets kidnapped? In any case, you can sign up for Mario's crew for a mere pittance of 500 Wii Points.
Next is Lunar Pool, the casual billiards classic that not only had adjustable table friction physics, but it also made the game where you hit balls into pockets a puzzle experience. Sixty deviously-constructed pool tables with ingeniously-positioned pockets make an already deeply-strategic game even more so, and with a rather strict stroke count feature, it's quite the challenge. Rack up and chalk up, it's time for Lunar Pool, and it's yours for 500 Wii Points.
Last but not least is Neutopia, a dungeon-crawling classic that has you chasing after the demon lord Dirth for the salvation of a kidnapped princess and the ownership of eight powerful medallions. The fate of the girl - as well as world peace - rests upon your hands, and with shield and sword you'll scour mysterious dungeons and forests to accomplish your goal. Step up to take what is rightfully yours for 600 Wii Points.
Certainly a very healthy update for the Virtual Console, wouldn't you say?
