Ghosts of the 1999 Columbine High School Massacre haunt everyone today, as a rampage of the same nature occurred recently at Dawson College in Montreal, Canada. As of this writing, two people are dead while six others are in a life or death condition. The suspect is 25-year old Kimveer Gill, avid fan of videogames with violent nature. Unsurprisingly, the media implies the games served as inspiration for the killings.According to Gill's blog account, Super Columbine Massacre RPG! is one of his most favorite games, together with GTA. Danny "Columbin" Ledonn, amateur developer of the game, immediately shares his regrets for the young man that "had lost touch with reality," and just seemed to have "no grasp on any kind of moral compass."
In a rather contrasting statement though, Ledonn admits that the game was "never intended as entertainment, but an indictment of our violent society, which always ends with a villainÂ’s suicide." He casually refers to his RPG as the psychological exploration of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, suspects of the the 1999 killings. Accordingly, news headlines all over television ring virtually the same: the gunman was obsessed with extremely violent videogames. Networks that were able to cover the news include ABC News, CanadaÂ’s Canoe Live and the Associated Press.VampireFreaks.com, host of Gill's blog, was quick to comment that they do not tolerate such actions. The administrator of the site has this message to all its members: "Media likes to associate crimes with gothic culture because it makes a better story for them. So, I just want to ask our members to really try to set a good example to the world, to show that we really are caring, responsible, non-violent people."

you know what, it's hard to say that games had no influence here, but just as well violent movies or tv shows can place insane ideas into receptive minds...
someone has to be totally insane to take these things seriously, but then again on the first airing of 'war of the worlds' over the radio, people thought it was for real and they panicked. so the message being sent can be blurry, whether it was intended that way or not.
i didn't know about this shooting (i live in the uk and rarely check the news), and it saddens me to see it... why did this guy make a columbine rpg? it sounds a bit twisted to me.
The reason is that because of some students might be bullied and tease him and picky on him or something like that. That's rage him aggressive and angry in him. Well, some of the bullies people are stupid and wont leave unpopular students alone. STUPIDITY! Look at what he have done to this school..hey students, grow up!
nothing much else to say. you cant keep people from being crazy. you can try and get them help proactively. but with 6 billion people in the world, you're going to get some dumbass that plays video games and shoots people and you're going to get a dude that doesn't play video games, yet eats another dude's testicles after frying them in bacon grease (see germany a few years ago). lets not generalize human behavior by the actions of one or a thousand retards, please.
Actually, 1 person died, 2 if you count the shooter. He was shot by the cops in the leg, he realized that he will survive and never make it out, so he shot himself.
My cousin was in that college, but he quit this semester, he got freakin lucky. What I hate is that they're currently blaming the music, Megadeth, the shooting club he was going to, the firearms registering thing, the website where he signed up to create his blog, all goths. Soon I bet they'll blame video games and if it continues, they'll start to say that people who wear black boxers are all killers.
Probably just another gaming nerd that sits around obsessing about video games like you guys....

I agree. You even hear of people involved with churches going crazy and killing people. I think some people just have a mindset that others don't understand and they can't be talked out of bad ideas because nothing else matters to them.

The day of the shootings and the day after alot of people were on the news trying to blame it and one guy was saying he wanted the web master of vampirefreaks.com to be arrested.
Anyway, there were alot of people phoning into the radio shows including a researcher for some organisation. She was telling the listeners that there are millions and millions of people exposed to violent media/games and only a tiny tiny tiny group of these actually turn bad, saying basically it iss no cause for this behaviour.
So there are people backing up the gaming community that do get their opinion heard which is nice to see.
Can you also see the link again to the gothic community with vampire freaks just like Marilyn Manson was blamed for clumbine. People just trying to put the blame on someone.

If they look closely to all gamers, they would see we all own violent games, and play them too.
But you can't blame them cause I haven't gone on a raging rampage, nor any desire.
there are 1000's of other thing they can look at for more valid reason's, but they have to blame something, don't they.

Parents fault that kids have bipolar,add, and all of those other mental illneses. These kids that feel that trapt in there own lil world and are not at center with themselves. I bet you this kid didnt even play GTA for trying to achieve anything in the game just to run around and do all the things he wished he could do to a society that hated him untill one day he went on a rage to show what he felt after hearing all the talk about how society blames games instead of blaming themselves. If parents would just communicate more with their children even if it was just how was your day son. Instead of feeling overwhelmed because they couldnt relate. To all the game addicts out there if you dont get composed you will be "crazy, sad, and alone" a tribe called quest.
CJAD 800 HAD AN AIRING PRIOR NIGHT. THEY HAD A COLUMBINE SURVIVOR ON THE SHOW. SINCE HE LOVED THE GAME, HER STORIES PROBABLY INSPIRED HIM EVEN MORE TO GO ON THE RAMPAGE SINCE HE WAS LISTENING TO THE SHOW. ITS THE ONLY LOGICAL REASON.
