USB Mass Storage Device Tester v3 now out |
Ó
Here's a big step for the Wii homebrew community: Homebrew developer svpe managed to finalize the working version of the USB mass storage device tester for the Nintendo Wii, a simple homebrew program that lets Wii users preview the contents of their USB storage devices. The application may only seem too simple at first glance, but it no doubt opens a big gate of possibility to future Wii homebrew projects. Here's what the application can do in a nutshell:
- looks for any USB mass storage devices connected to the Wii
- tries to display a file listing of the root folder
- creates a file called testtest.txt with the content 'test' there.
The download file doesn't include a readme, so we suggest reading up about Wii homebrew first if you're not too sure in how to go about installing and using homebrew software for Nintendo's waggly console.

Comments [refresh]
I haven't tried it yet, but if someone can crack on how Mario Kart Wii lets the disk install a channel to the wii menu it could be a pretty cool home brew application to play home brew from a external HDD or so.
Leave it to homebrew to fix Nintendo's mistakes
Leave it to Mr. douche bag to make a douchy comment.
HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
haven't been reading comments much, but remembering you guys going back-and-forth (around 6 months ago) was the best part.
Anyway, home-brew is not a problem, it's the misuse of it that causes issues (downloading/pirating games, illegal modsm etc). The ability to play other people's games will help the creators them get into the market, and overall increases hardware sales of the system manufacturer. I say good luck on Wii Home-brew
"you can use this program with FAT 16 and FAT 36 file storage devices ONLY. "
I think you've got a typo there, it's FAT16 & FAT32. There has never been such a thing as FAT36.
Just an FYI. Thanks.
