*UPDATE* Rumor: Killer7 for the Wii?

While the Wii port of Capcom's schizophrenic rail shooter game is not announced outright by Capcom, it is interesting to note that the Capcom Europe official website has Killer7 in its Wii game listings. Obviously, Killer7's listing under Wii is simply too careless to be a typographical error.

Come to think of it, the Wii certainly needs more mature-themed games in its library to back up its claim as the Wii being a console for everyone; and Killer7, originally for Playstation 2 and Gamecube, definitely fits the bill with its frantic rail and point-and-shoot gameplay.

There is no mention as to the possibility of this port from official sources. Grasshopper Manufacture, Killer7's and Heroes producer, has the game listed only for the Gamecube and Playstation 2. However, the chance of experiencing this nifty psychological shooter for the Wii cannot be denied...yet.

Stay tuned here at QJ for more updates!

And updates do come fast, indeed! Only hours after we first reported on the possibility of Killer7 coming to the Wii, Capcom finally gives out an official statement on it. And according to the press release (sorry, guys, we do hate to be the bearers of bad news), they have no plans as of the moment to make a Wii version for the shooter.

The interest this (referring to the Wii symbol on the website) seems to have generated on the internet is quite gratifying, but we're going to have to disappoint you this time. The innovative control system of the Wii would seem like a good match for the innovative gameplay of Killer 7 and we cannot completely rule out the idea of a Killer 7 Wii at some point in the future. However we can confirm that there are no plans at the present time to make such a game and there is certainly not one in the pipeline that we are not telling you about.

So there you have it folks, straight from the horse's mouth. No Killer7 coming to the Wii any time soon. But you can still keep your fingers tightly crossed if that will help soothe your disappointment.
