Unreal Engine 3 gets new lighting tech |
Ó
Epic Games has announced that Illuminate Labs will be joining its Integrated Partners Program. The partnership will be adding Illuminate Labs' lighting tech called the Beast to Epic's Unreal Engine 3.
Looks like we can look forward to a whole new line of even more realistic games after the New Year. Since all licensees of the Unreal Engine has access to the new tech, we can also look forward to better looking sequels.
The addition of the Beast will give the Unreal Engine 3 these new features:
- Global Illumination baking
- Skylights from HDR images
- Baked soft shadows with transparency

How convenient..UT3 for the PC and PS3 is released then POW the beast is unleashed to the UE3 engine. What's the chance this lighting engine will be added to the xbox360 version of UT3?
No chance, this will only benefit developers with UT3 full tech licesenses. Expect any new games after UT3 to use this tech.
if it is going to be in the 360 version of ut3 how many do you think these xbotx will say thier game is better because of it.
and then have some of thesed biased websites score the ps3 and pc game 1 point less than the 360.Lol
