Red Steel 2 looks good so far. Admittedly, that assessment's based only on the little bits of it we've seen, but on paper, the game definitely seems like a step up from the original.

Despite the generally good hype surrounding it, the mandatory inclusion of MotionPlus is making the developers a bit nervous. Creative director Jason Vandenberghe even admits that it's a rather risky move:

It's a huge risk. We have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be. We assume high. We would like it to be high. I would love to say to you that it'll be compatible with just a regular controller, but the gameplay simply isn't there without MotionPlus. That core experience just isn't there without it.

Nintendo's MotionPlus add-on seems to have enough of a buzz surrounding it to put Ubisoft's fears to rest, though. What do you guys think?

The mandatory need for wii motion plus is a good sign for me. i think when a game is built for the basic control then the WMP tacked on after definitely wont be as good.

The only concern is not the WMP but Ninty's hefty $20 price. $20 isnt that much, but lets face it, were all broke a** mofos now.

If it's such a "risky" move, Ubisoft should make some sort of deal with Nintendo that will allow them to release an edition that includes the MotionPlus.

That way, those who don't buy the MotionPlus seperately, or with WiiSports Resort, will still be able to play it without worry.
