Ubisoft pressed to act after EA tries to acquire Take-Two - Image 1

Sounds like the makings of a Romance of the Three Kingdoms war: Electronic Arts' recent bid to take over Take-Two Interactive has Ubisoft up on its toes. According to Ubisoft headman Yves Guillemot, the company is also looking to expand its borders:

The desire of EA to buy Take Two pushes us to go faster, to accelerate internal growth but also to look at acquisition opportunities.

The air seems to be thick with the idea of acquisitions, take-overs and partnerships, following the recent merger between Activision and Blizzard, and EA's acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic which was completed just last month.

Guillemot explained that the company is more interested in purchasing new licenses rather than taking over another studio. As of yet, we don't know if the company has any particular IP in mind, or from which studio they might buy it. At any rate, we'll keep you posted on developments.
