Nintendo Wii - Image 1Team Twiizers, always at the forefront of homebrew for the Nintendo Wii, released yet another version of its Twilight Hack. This time, Twilight Hack version 0.1 Alpha 3a offers new features which make it easier to load ELF files on the white hot console.

For all you Wii homebrew enthusiasts, here's the changelog (since 0.1 Alpha 2):
  • Correctly loads geckoloader code from USBGecko flash
  • Front SD slot is now supported; SDGecko slot support has been removed.
  • FAT16 is now supported; you should save your ELF executable on your SD card as "boot.elf".
  • RZDJ is now supported
  • Added support for Geckoloader stub: If you have a USBGecko installed and have already run the Geckoloader program to install into flash, then the Twilight Hack will try to load that stub if it does not detect an SD card.
As usual, the Twilight Hack requires an SD card to load your files from and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to make it work. For full installation instructions, just click on the "via" link below.

"You should save your ELF executable on your SD card as 'boot.elf'."

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Awesome news. This will make it MUCH easier for people to use.

I'm still waiting for HB to run without the hack on modded consoles.

» Hey

"Front SD slot is now supported; SDGecko slot support has been removed."

Does that mean the internal SD slot? Or does that just mean a SD slot on the Gecko SD Card Adapter?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

It means both. That sentance is in regards to both items.

They added support for one and removed support for the other.

» Good.

I know I've been preaching it since Twiizers first broke Z:TP, but this is real progress. Moving away from the Wii being just a glorified GameCube, and towards it being a beautiful gaming machine with much more to offer. I can't wait until someone actually manages to get an older version of MacOS (9 perhaps?) running on this baby. This will be like a sexier "mini-mac-mini"? But that's a long time away. In the mean time, I just want to see some source code for hello world, etc.

Thanks for clearing that up, I might give it a go in the future if it'll work out for me.

» SWEET!!

Good thing i didnt but that gecko adapter. Now, how can I point the emulators to my legit roms thru this? Maybe the emulator has to be rewritten from its source. Ladies and gents, we r one step closer to an even more fabulous system. I wonder if there will ever be a dvd player, or a dvd backup launcher (for LEGIT backups ONLY)
