Twilight Hack v0.1 (Alpha 1) - Nintendo Wii fully exploited - Image 1Over the past couple of days, we've been hearing a lot of homebrew developments that claim that the Nintendo Wii has been fully hacked.

And most of those concern the innocent looking game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. According to Team Twiizers, the exploit doesn't work on every version of the game.

To avoid problems, you can check your version by comparing the text string which is on the inner cycle of the data surface with the following:
  • RVL-RZDP-0A-0 JPN - working
  • RVL-RZDE-0A-0 JPN - working
  • RVL-RZDE-0A-2 USA - reportedly not working
Given that the exploit is still in its early stages, it is a given that it's not going to be for everyone. Be sure that you know what you are doing to avoid any problems during installation of the exploit.

Once you've obtained the files via the download link below, Team Twiizers provided the following so that you know where to put either of the files. Also you can watch the proof-of-concept video released by the coders themselves after the list.
  • cp rzdp.bin $MOUNT/private/wii/title/RZDP/data.bin
  • cp rzde.bin $MOUNT/private/wii/title/RZDE/data.bin

» That is really quite spooky!

But awesome all the same... I wish there was SOURCE for the damn thing though!

btw it works on my launch-day EUR Twilight Princess... as in, the one without the bug where you cannot get out of the third room. Dunno about the patched version, I assume it's all the same!

» Good job!!

Nice to see homebrew without hard-modding a Wii is coming together, I'd try it out, as my disc is a RVL-RZDE-USA (without the 0A-2, nearly around launch), but I have to go to school. I'll report later if it works or not.

» Nice

Worked for me in Australia. RVL-RZDP-0A-0 JPN bought a month after release. Although I was dissapointed it didn't pick up my SD Gecko, or SD card.

» ...

Time to get your Zelda copies, guys...

I wonder why the hacks are alway found in popular games?

It was the same with the PSP, in GTA and in Lumines...

Maybe because the hackers search on purpose in these games? I don't know...

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-11 03:47

by burrito4brain - 2008-02-11 08:53
» So...

Does this allow you to run ISO's?

by ho-oh arabia - 2008-02-11 09:24
» Alright!!!!!!!!

now lets see some REAL action. the game begins NOW, and should start with a dvd backup loader or an alternate sdload (more probable)

by Yoloni - 2008-02-11 09:28
» Scared

I'm about to try it. Will this break the Wii? Can it be reverted?

by ho-oh arabia - 2008-02-11 09:47
» no....

its okay, it wont hurt your wii

by Yoloni - 2008-02-11 09:47
» Anyone Know

I was about to just copy the file to the Wii, but I couldn't do it. How do I do this?

by ho-oh arabia - 2008-02-11 09:50
» wait....

This could lead to Virtual Console hacking. Discovering the game ID and an ID changer will allow VC game sharing too!!!!!

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-11 09:56
» ok

you have to delete zelda save 1st, or back it up onto you comp

by Yoloni - 2008-02-11 10:05
» I Got It!

I deleted my original save. I guess I had to rename the file data.bin, and I didn't need to make the $MOUNT file. I tried it, and it worked! I talked to the funky guy, and it gave me a black screen and boom! I wonder why the disc slot was glowing, and I had to push the POWER button for a long time to turn it off.

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-11 11:19
» yea

i think its glowing so that we can, in the future eject the disk and keep it in a state that it is vunerable ot load homebrew

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-11 11:24
» its because

as these games are popular there easy to get hold of untill they get patched. its more than likely that people will have these games, most if not all people have zelda for the wii. people dont want to hace to buy games that they dont even play, on psp for instance pinball, its a crap game, and wii 4x4 monster truck racing or what eva that is, no one will going to want to buy that game for homebrew. hopefully this will lead to custom firmware on the wii like psp, so that we will not need to use zelda to load up homebrew all the time

by Yoloni - 2008-02-11 11:51
» Rlease Region-Free

Hope they would release a program, so that you can boot different region original games. I'm going to Japan, and I want to be able to keep my U.S. Wii.

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-11 11:54
» same

im hopeing for region free gameing, that should be at the top of there list, if they could get into the wii hardware, couldnt they just change the region code

by neomew - 2008-02-11 13:14
» hello all

why would you want to do that for?

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-12 01:34

by xLinkinwormx - 2008-02-12 12:05

RVL-RZDP-0A-0 JPN

its on the inside of the disk on the data side, can be a lil hard to see if you dont know what your looking for tho

by neomew - 2008-02-12 15:25
