Turn Stars to Wii points?

Wii Points Card - Image 1Something from the European rumor mill: Nintendo is going to set a conversion rate of 4:1 for Star points to Wii points according to German mag, N-Zone.

The said conversion of rate is still a rumor but it already spawned a debate whether it's fair or not. According to Mike Jackson of CVG, you'll have to register around 32 games to get 2000 Wii points. With that, players would spend around GDP £ 1280 (that's more than US$ 2,500) to get the 2000 "free" Wii points.

Some say that Nintendo is just taking advantage of the Wii and DS' success, while others argue that it's still free. Others complain that Japan gets the cool stuff and European Stars Points Catalogue is a far cry. Let's hope Nintendo has grander plans for us in the future.

» So old...

This is so old, the idea that Nintendo is going to use the stars for Wii point system IS NOT a rumor, it came from Nintendo themselves last year.

Any European with a Nintendo account knows this because the star page even tells us its being planned.

Very old news...

» Indeed

Yes this is old news indeed - Nintendo did anounce that Stars can be used to but Wii points a while ago, even though they're still being a bit quiet about it now.

Hope it's not 4:1 anyway, but may be worth it as it beats screensavers and other cr@p on their catalogue.

» Did either of you read the article?

It wasn't saying Nintendo using star points for wii points was a rumour - it was saying the 4:1 conversion rate is a rumour. Read before replying, makes you look less stupid.

That is total bull***** though.

TO BUY 32 GAMES just to get 2000 Wii points? The taxes on 3 games will probally just about equil the equivalant of 2000 wii points. Bull, nintendo, bull!

» Nintendo r annoying!

FFS Nintendo are getting so greedy at the moment! They have just come back into gaming as the dominant console (ds) and their wii is becoming a top console too and then they do this! They even jacked up the price of the legend of zelda game on the 64 by 200 points! They are greedy scum, and their online service sucks! I have a wii, and i got it on launch day. Its more of a novelty now, a toy if you like to call it that. It has nothing going for it apart from motion, and thats it.

"nintendo give us free wii points"

...Sigh.

Nintendo greedy, oh boy, Nintendo be greedy..

Nintendo should have feats to accomplish in games to get points. For example, in next Wii Sports title, at the Home Run Derby in training, you hit 500 home runs all in a row all over 600 ft in 6 minutes, you get 10 Full Wii Points.......

» greedy...

no offense, but how can a company giving away free stuff, be considered greedy.

Surely giving away free wii points ect, can't be greedy at any stars rate, since it is still free.

Its a reward for buying many Nintendo games , so its not really greedy at any stars:wii points rate.

Awesome idea on having wii points as prizes for reaching certain feats.

Oh and I am in England , and i do think that 4:1 ratio would be crazy , since a game , which costs much more than a 2k wii points card, is half the price, This is a really stupid rumor which will be proven false.
