Rock Band 1 songs will be never be DLC - Image 1MTV Games has announced that songs from the first Rock Band game will not be available as downloadable content for Rock Band 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii) in the future.

Apparently, the reasons are capitalistic, as they plan to publish the first game "indefinitely." Considering that they had to relicense every song for use in Rock Band 2, this was a predictable move for them, but bad news for us.

A feature in Rock Band 2 will allow you to export the songs from the first game, but this would cost US$ 5. Still, you'd get 55 songs for only five bucks, and that's a good deal.

The only real reason you'd need to buy the original Rock Band if you have the sequel is to get the three songs that are non-transferable: "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden, and "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. It's a bit harsh for MTV Games to have us buy the whole game just for these three tracks though.

WOW, this is the most biased, unreasonable article i have ever read. You say the reasons are "capatalistic" -- 55 songs, at $2 each would come to $110 if they were downloadable, or $55 if they are $1 each. Instead you can get them ALL if you dush out $5 and rent it, or know someone who has it.

As for saying "It's a bit harsh for MTV Games to have us buy the whole game just for these three tracks though" -- MTV games didnt pick 3 songs and say "NO TRANSFER" its called licensing issues. Seriously, do you not know ANYTHING about how they get tracks for video games?

I pray this isnt a sign of things to come at QJ.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

I agree. That article made no sense. There is no reason for any of the original titles to be available as DC content.

Just rent the game and pay the $5. Or buy it and turn it back into Gamestop.

Why would they put RB1 songs as DLC anyways? Like seriously if you want the songs, borrow the game from a friend and transfer everything for 5 bucks.

If you dont have any friends then rent it from blockbuster maybe.

» qj is going down hill

QJ, you suck. You have always been a little biased and even sometimes a little stupid but lately there have been hardly any new updated and the ones you do have are borderline pointless. If you have to go back to ripping off other news sites, at least then I only had to go to one place for my news.

sadly i agree.

I was thinking that since they stopped pc gaming, science and all those other sections of the site that there would be a lot more things to come, i was atleast expecting to see one or two original qj articles that they've made in the past.

but things have been going slow as ever, i see no reason for them to stop sections of the website if things are going to stay the same as they were/if not worse

» Stop whining.

Why did everyone just have to repeat the same thing the first guy said? Sure, this article is pretty pointless since people know that RB1 has the export feature and they only didn't include those songs since they couldn't get them licensed again, you guys dont have to criticize the whole site and staff over it.

You all have seen blog posts, game reviews and previews, comments, etc. that you think are stupid on other sites, so just chill the hell out already.

» way to get butt hurt

No one is attacking you so why don't YOU chill out? This site is going down hill and were voicing our opinion about it. There is nothing wrong with that and if someone listens then its well worth it.
