Too Wii or not to Wii... is that a question?

Nintendo Wii in the stock market - Image 1CNN recently released an analysis piece discussing the Wii's place in the stock market. According to the piece, the Wii may be overvalued and this may hurt it in the long run if the next-gen console can't keep its momentum. For now though, it's still going strong.

Nintendo stocks remain high in Japan - in fact, its stock went higher than Sony's at one point in the summer. The problem, as the piece states, is that Nintendo's stocks depends on a lot of factors tied with its consoles whereas Sony has investments in other industries.

The Wii has to maintain its momentum or else the stock will indeed turn out to be overvalued. Some believe that Nintendo will have a tough time topping the success of the Wii and may not live up to the promise of its stocks.

The answer:

"Not to Wii." At least, not if you're a hardcore gamer. The Wii's too 'kiddy'.

?

What is your definition of a "hardcore gamer". Also the Wii does have Manhunt 2, I wouldn't say that's kiddy.

i agree with freeplay

billie, imagine waving your arms all day long..can u do that? thas pretty much wat the wii is..ya sure they will have their games: galaxy, ssb etc..it'll get tiring after a while graphics wise and gameplay..ps3 wins here..but i WOULD change my mind if 360 didnt have too many hardware problems...

then don't

Back on the subject(freeplay and kanvin100) the reason I agree i guess is because all nintendo ever has done is make systems and games and its going against two big corporations like it says in the article sony actually has other places stock is invested. Nintendo needs to look at exspanding their stock base(I am no investor) and think of the security of the company.

Actually...

Well that's one of the great things about the Wii. You can either wave your arms all day or not. You can play sitting down or not. With the Wii you can make the exaggerated movements shown on TV ads, or you can just flick the wrist. A good example is when playing Metroid Prime 3. You can either point at the screen and act like you have an arm cannon, or you can just sit down on the couch with the Wiimote in your lap and make very minor movements. And that is how I could play the Wii all day long. +) Of course graphics wise the PS3 wins, but I don't understand what that has to do with the original post.

.

I'd say no. Not until more games that aren't mini game compilations and ports with tacked on controls come out.

Too Wii

playing game with blood, gore, and guns does not make you a hardcore gamer its the amount of games you play

Nintendo's stocks will fall drastically in 1-2 months

The Nintendo DS has always been successful, and that will keep Ninendo's stocks from crashing. The Wii, however, has past its peak and will rapidly fall in popularity because of the stiff competition. The Wii has only one game with decent ratings, and it's hardly worth $250. Nintendo's problems will be even worse if they keep insisting on lying about the supply issues, even though they think that will keep the Wii a hot item this holiday. I have yet to even see a Wii on a store shelf. How many parents are really fond of searching store to store fighting with other over-obsessive parents for a Wii they're going to play for 30 minutes? Hype is about the only thing selling Wiis, because there really isn't much to do with them even after a full year. Other (better) systems don't need a video in the store telling you how to use it and how great it is, when there isn't even any in stock.

manhunt 2 is completely irrelevant

First off the only reason it's on Wii is because it was supposed to be all platforms but the PS3 and 360 versions were deemed too violent Secondly, who gives a ***** about manhunt in the first place? It's a crappy, stupid series and the amount of non-gamers who care about it far outweighs the actual gamers who want it.

Gotta step in here.

It seems alot like the only people who've played a Wii here are Billie and I. I'll add real quick that I have never been tired playing the Wii. No game requires the exaggerated movements shown on TV, just as Billie pointed out. I've seen multiple comments saying the Wii has only ports and mini-game compilations, but that's also very untrue. Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 are all ultra-high quality games, not ports, not mini-game compilations. They are just as good as any Halo game. (Oh noes, here come the Halo fanboys and perhaps a fangirl! "HALO IS BETTER THAN METROID UHDURR!" Please, I said it for you, spare us all the drivel.) Let's review: Twilight Princess: 9.7/10(1Up.com), 9.5/10(IGN), 4.5/5(Gamestop user reviews) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: 9.1/10(1Up.com), 9.5/10(IGN), 4.5/5(Gamestop user reviews) Do I need to go on? 1Up.com reports 13 games with a score of 8.0 or better. IGN has SEVENTY-SIX (76) games with 8.0 or higher http://tinyurl.com/397cvr And 19 games with a 9.0 or higher. http://tinyurl.com/2qqjoo Also, "Mister Common Sense," do you invest? Do you have anything to do with stocks? Do you have any idea what exactly effects stock changes? Do you have any idea what things are in store for the Wii or the DS? Are you perhaps a Nintendo 'insider'? If not then on what exactly do you base your claims of the Wii being "past its peak [sic]" or that it will "fall in popularity"? It almost just seems like you're a PS3 or 360 fanboy trying to bash the Wii. Lastly: "Other (better) systems don't need a video in the store telling you how to use it and how great it is, when there isn't even any in stock." That's pretty funny. The PS3s at both Wal-Mart's in this town have signs posted on them... "Out of order". That's 3 PS3's total. You want to know how many people stand in front of the Wii display trying out SMGalaxy compared to the 360? Let's just say the Wii has the heftier side of the ratio.

lol at Wii defenders

The funny thing is I was actually kind of fond of the Wii until I played it. Wii sports is not fun. Nothing about the game is impressive in the least. Zelda may be a decent game, but it's identical to the Gamecube version, and therefore a port. Metroid is an uninteresting non-online shooter that's completely inferior to nearly any XBOX 360 shooter. What's left? Mario Galaxy is not worth $300+ to play. Then I realized how lazy Ninetndo was for re-releasing a Gamecube (which failed horribly by the way) and going for maximum profits. Instead of doing consumers a favor and giving them more value than they paid for a system (and taking a loss in hardware,) Nintendo is laughing all the way to the bank and Reggie is saying MS and Sony errored in doing that. BS! I lost all respect for the company, especially with all the smack talk they've been doing lately. The Wii game linup is horrible and it always gets the worst version of multiplatform games, despite high sales. GHIII doesn't even have stereo sound! The 3 year old RE4 remake sold over a million copies! That means the Wii games just suck, no matter how you put them.
