Tomb Raider: Underworld glitch prevents players from finishing game |
Ó
In the Wii version, the lever at the end doesn't appear at all. After numerous complaints from gamers (understandably), Eidos has responded with some suggestions on how to solve the problem. No, they don't recommend that you don't buy the game.
After the MAP ROOM where they spin a large structure using ThorÂ’s Gauntlet for the first time, a lever is sometimes not appearing (Lara would normally jump onto the lever and use her bodyweight to make it move downwards).
To rectify this, players should either:
- Revert back to a previous save and playthrough again.
- If the user already has an SD card they can use the attached saves and instructions below (note – they will lose all treasures they have collected if they use these). http://support.eidosinteractive.com/…31&nav=0,1,372
- Unzip “20081124 TRU Wii NTSC save.rar”
- Place the contents of the unzipped folder onto an SD card.
- Ensure the Wii is off and insert the SD Card into the Wii.
- Boot up the Wii without the disc in.
- Go to the Wii Options -> Select Save Data -> Select Wii -> Select SD Card.
- Select the TR:Underworld file and then select the option copy to Wii memory
- After save is copied remove SD card and reboot the Wii.
- Start the game and Load the Save.

Save QUICK and save OFTEN!
I didn't fall into that glitch, but many others unfortunately.
Seems like this game is full of those anyway.
It feels like a giant demo of the game it's supposed to be: sparse enemies here and there, very few sound effects, lara walking trough objects, camera with a mind of it's own that coupled with the somehow illogical controls becomes the game's worst enemy.
It really looks like the Wii version would have needed 3-4 months of additional work to even be ready for shipping.
I thought these guys really cared about the franchise that already was on the way to extinction and it was saved by the bell, what in the world were they thinking before releasing this ?
Legend and even Anniversary are infinitely better than this, I don't understand why they didn't just use the older but more polished engine and instead went on to publish this unfinished and untested crap.
If the franchise dies for good after this they will have only them self to blame for.
