Red Steel

Red Steel
is an action-packed adventure following the tale of a man whose fiancée has been kidnapped and her mafia kingpin father has been murdered by a rival gang. The only you can protect your loved one and your honor is by traveling to Japan to take on the Tokyo underworld. Developed from the ground up specifically for the Wii, Red Steel will allow gamers to replicate sword-fighting movements and target foes with precision. Plenty of swords and firearms can be used for combo attacks, and taking advantage of the focus system will even let you freeze time to take on a whole group of baddies at once. Split-screen and multiplayer modes are also available for some intense Japanese fighting action.

those graphics look inferior even to original Xbox FPSs.. i know its not all about graphics, but it would be hard for me to wanna play that after being spoiled by games like Prey etc. even if the controls are as good as they want us to think they are.. hope it gets much better in time.

LOL. no, i'm not retarted but I do think that Xbox could have produced these graphics. IMO Black has much nicer looking weapons, environments, textures etc. most wii games i've seen so far seem to have extremely "Blocky" graphics that make them look not very next-gen. I know none of these screenshots are from final products so i'm trying to remain optimistic, being a fan of nintendo's (and its competitors) products. I just can't help to wonder WHY they didn't make a more powerful system...? its not like they never cared about graphics in the past.

The system need the right balance in price, power durability (the real reason for lack of hard drive). The key is not to be better that MS and Sony but to off a system cheap a different enough that they don't really compete. Look at the DS and PSP. There not even really competing. The PSP is more of a ipod competitor then one to the DS. The PS3 is no different. It's a computer not a game system. It and the Wii have very different goals.

Drop a PSP. Now drop a DS. Which would survive? Drop a HDD. Now drop a flash cart. Which one has a higher chance of surviving? The Wii my be after a different crowd but Nintendo can not abondon the children market. For this reason Wii has to be cheap and durable. You don't want it to look like this

Also if it is to sell to non gamers, like the DS, it needs to be cheap. Wii will be more powerful than the Gamecube

Just look at the MP3 15 min HD footage at IGN.

Iwata has said time and time again he has nothing against what MS ans Sony are doing. It is just more reason for Nintendo not to. Going head up with MS and Sony would be a greater risk then transferring what is working in the hand held market with the DS over to console (console or hand held it is still the gaming market). What you see as weakness is really a strong point.

# don't forget...Guest 2006-06-24 04:19
Don't forget that you're trying to compare third year Xbox graphics with PRE-release Wii graphics. And not all games are the same. Why would you make all games look the same? You can't compare Paper Mario to Resident Evil 4. They are both on the same system but look very different.

Wii is more powerful than a Gamecube, period. So expect it to have at the least, better graphics than that. Gamecube had the 2nd best graphics of last gen. Better than PS2, and less than Xbox. But PS2 still sold better than both of them. Proof that it is the games and not the graphics that sell a system.

Some Wii games will blow you away with graphics. Some won't. But it's the GAMEPLAY that is most important. Remember that.
