Ó

Red Steel is an action-packed adventure following the tale of a man whose fiancée has been kidnapped and her mafia kingpin father has been murdered by a rival gang. The only you can protect your loved one and your honor is by traveling to Japan to take on the Tokyo underworld. Developed from the ground up specifically for the Wii, Red Steel will allow gamers to replicate sword-fighting movements and target foes with precision. Plenty of swords and firearms can be used for combo attacks, and taking advantage of the focus system will even let you freeze time to take on a whole group of baddies at once. Split-screen and multiplayer modes are also available for some intense Japanese fighting action.

Drop a PSP. Now drop a DS. Which would survive? Drop a HDD. Now drop a flash cart. Which one has a higher chance of surviving? The Wii my be after a different crowd but Nintendo can not abondon the children market. For this reason Wii has to be cheap and durable. You don't want it to look like this

Also if it is to sell to non gamers, like the DS, it needs to be cheap. Wii will be more powerful than the Gamecube

Iwata has said time and time again he has nothing against what MS ans Sony are doing. It is just more reason for Nintendo not to. Going head up with MS and Sony would be a greater risk then transferring what is working in the hand held market with the DS over to console (console or hand held it is still the gaming market). What you see as weakness is really a strong point.

Wii is more powerful than a Gamecube, period. So expect it to have at the least, better graphics than that. Gamecube had the 2nd best graphics of last gen. Better than PS2, and less than Xbox. But PS2 still sold better than both of them. Proof that it is the games and not the graphics that sell a system.
Some Wii games will blow you away with graphics. Some won't. But it's the GAMEPLAY that is most important. Remember that.
