THQ readying De Blob as a Wii exclusive |

Another Katamari-style game for the Wii? That appears to be the idea behind a game that publisher THQ is readying for release, based on information indicated in Germany's Maniac magazine. The game, titled De Blob, will have players controlling a ball of paint that they'll roll through a city.And similar to the game that features a leotard-wearing King of the Cosmos, the object of De Blob is for the players to paint an entire city - they can opt to pick up NPCs to make the ball larger, or to change their ball's color.
That's all the details we've got available for the Wii version (dated for 2008) at the moment, although it'll be interesting to note that De Blob, much like flOw on the PlayStation 3, began as a student project. De Blob in particular was created by a student team from Hogeschool van de Kunsten, a university based in the Dutch city of Utrecht, and was a finalist in the 9th Independent Games Festival's Student competition's category.
There's also a PC demo out in circulation for guys opting to try it out, although it remains to be seen how its Wii port will fare - we'll let you know in case we pick up more info in the near future.

De blob was originally an project of students from the University of Utrecht (Universiteit Utrecht) from the Netherlands. It let people explore the city of Utrecht virtually.
