During E3 2009, one of the games announced for the Nintendo Wii was a Monolith Soft RPG called Monado: Beginning of the World. It has since been renamed to Xenoblade.

 

As the name suggests, Xenoblade has some ties to similarly titled games Xenogears and Xenosaga. The action in Xenoblade takes place on the bodies of two dead gods. In truth, these gods are gears -- Bart Fatima's gear Brigandier from Xenogears and E.S. Dinah from Xenosaga.

One of these gods is home to humans and other biological races while the other one is populated by mechanical creatures. The plot revolves around the struggle and preparations of the meatbags against the threat of invasion by the mechanical creatures.

 

Xenoblade saw a release in Japan way back in June 2010. While it was announced for a North American release we haven't seen hide nor hair about any further release details. It seems Nintendo is still keeping the possibility alive, however.

My interest in Xenoblade has been dampened a bit since I never played Xenosaga but it looks like a fun game. If both it and the Last Story make it out of Japan that should be a treat for Wii RPG fans.

You don't need to play Xenosaga because they have nothing to do with each other. Xenoblade was called Monado originally and that's what the game is about, a Xenoblade called Monado. Nintendo renamed the game Xenoblade because of the writer involved, but there is no relation to Xenosaga.

sounds uninteresting. and why is bart's gears a god? shouldn't have been fai's gear? i mean it was the most powerful gear and the "slayer of god" in the story of xenogears. barts gear was shit compared to that.

If Nintendo wants to reduce piracy as much as they say they do, they should think about actually releasing RPGs outside of Japan. Part of the reason behind why people choose the path of piracy so much, as opposed to importing; Is because there are translated patches that come with pirated versions. Not to mention the extra cost that comes with importing.
