The Wii60 experience: Unbeatable? |
Ó
Maybe most of you didn't notice, but we ran a poll on our Xbox 360 blog which poses this question - Will your Xbox 360 be playing with a Wii? The results are somewhat surprising - 55% said yes they go hand in hand, 25% are still undecided and needs to check out the Wii more, and 20% said that the combination is unnatural. To those who belong to the Wii60 believers, you may have found an ally in ITWire's Mike Bantick. In his report, he mentions that now Sony is up against two competing consoles wherein one "could boast a year's head start on high definition gaming...backed up with new value packs and the addition of the HD-DVD drive"; while the other has "a unique play mechanism that is quite simply fun". Of course, Bantick is talking about the X360 and the Wii, respectively.
If you think that the guy is simply a PS3 basher, well, he doesn't sound like one. He even went out of his way to name the things he likes about the big black box. But amidst all of the PS3's technological advancements, here's his two-cents-worth on it:
I believe the PS3 is a superb piece of technology (not here commercially in Australia until March 2007), yet I find it hard to believe it could replace the smiles I saw on the faces of my family over these recent holidays.
Yeah, well, you can't blame the guy for being emotional there because heck, the holidays' still in full swing. He then went on about how charming his daughter is while she was playing Wii Sports and how his Papa who's afflicted with Parkinson's played Wii Tennis.
So what do you think? Would you change your answer to our poll or will you stay firm with your choice?

Here we have the Wii for gaming and the 360 for all our hd movie needs ^.- I kid!!! Anyway Wii60 all the way!i!
I have a 360 and a Wii and I seriously don't feel the need to get a PS3. Motorstorm and Gran Turismo HD look incredibly good and I would love to play them but they are hardly system sellers. Not for this price. I can get most of the games for the 360 anyways and while some of them may look better on the PS3 I really could not care less. I totally enjoy looking at Gears of War but let's face it, graphics stop being interesting or mind boggling after a few days. I am also playing Red Steel at the moment and no doubt the graphcis are by far not the same quality the 360 delivers. But in no way has this affected the game, I am having a good time playing it. Plus when I had a friend of mine over yesterday to play Wii sports I laughed so hard my face was hurting. Such an experience makes up for everything else.
I have PS3 Xbox360 and Wii (no i'm not a spoiled rich boy, I work for a living). Honestly, I play with my 360 more often then any other console. After beating Zelda I ventured into Trama center and Red steel. Those games are great games but they dont really hook you. They're more or less side games that I play when I just want a quick play during down time. I just picked up Metal slug anthology and I've been playing that alot. But basiclly, I play the wii mostly when I have people over. Its definitely superior as a party gaming console. Its a blast playing wii sports with friends and family. PS3 on the other hand gets the least play time from me. Not because it sucks or not worthy but because there is only one game that apeals to me right now, resistance. I've been playing that game alot and with the free online gaming its play back value is awesome. The only problem with the PS3 right now is the lackluster of good games. Most of the really good games that are out for the PS3 I already have for the 360, no point in buying them twice. Also, I have a real gripe about the Sixaxis controller. Not to bad mouth it but I miss the force feedback and is it just me or are the R2 and L2 triggers incredibly awkard to use? I'm sure a 3rd party controller will come out that will fix these two issues The greatest advantage of the 360 is the library of games and Xbox live. Gears of war, call of duty 3 and Burnout are usually my favorite games to play. I have no doubt in my mind that in a year from now, PS3 will have a bunch of great games to choose from. But for now, it looks like resistance is all there is (I played the motorstorm demo and I hate the controllers, flame away). But to get back on topic, I feel the the wii 360 idea is the best to go with now, unless you can aford all three. I mean, loading linux on the ps3 was a blast in its self. PS3 has a lot to offer, but patience is required.
So , I tried to get a ps3 on release with no luck. Thanksgiving lands and somehow thru the help of others ended up with a Wii in my hands, oh yeah baby. Then a week and a half ago a friend who works at costco informed me they were getting 24 ps3's in. He bought 2. I got one of them. Christmas eve at 3:30 in the morning. Double oh yeah. I've played the 360, I thinks its great, but with my pswii, life couldn't be sweeter. Target had a great deal on 2 ps3 titles going for , Tony hawks and carbon. Didn't want either so I bought them and returned them to walmart for full price. :D Oh yeah baby, 2 sweet.
I own a 360 right now, but I dont think I will be getting a wii anytime soon, or maybe at all! I like the PS3 graphics, but now that GTA is on both systems and also resident evil, the PS3 has definitely lost me there....But on the other side, I was about to get a Wii, then I changed my mind....Now, I am changing my mind again, and I will definitely purchase a Wii in the near future...They do go hand in hand...
I play my 360 for online and graphics games. And when my mates come round we get drunk and play on the wii for some stupid fun lol. I dont want a ps3, ive played on one and it was awful, games where laggy as hell terrible tearing issues on the picture, ps2 games looked worse on the ps3 instead of better, controller was awfuly light and cheap feeling, six axis ***** was ill used and pitiful really, no rumble and my god the menu system, what a horrible waste of a HD tv and basically it just felt thrown together. Xbox 360 and wii seem complete everything is in there where it should be and it all works, but the ps3 is just a mix mash of crap it doesnt no what it wants to be so its little bits of everything and it does them all horribly.
Kind of intresting that two systems need to be put together in order to take on the PlayStation 3 don't you think?
the Wii proved it could beat the ***** out of the Ps3 already this Christmas.
what people are realizing is : for the 'price' of a PS3 one could get 2 completly different expearences by getting a 360 and a Wii. that for the money that one would spend on a PS3 with it's one game 'resistance' and empty promises. one could purchase 2 different systems, who were ready to be released and are enjoyable for a little more than the same price. that's all the people of the world(who don't have they're noses far up SONY's a s s) are realizing.
sorry but the only thing it proved is that cheaper lastgen hardware can be made faster than more expensive next gen hardware supply and demand here: when the 360 released there was enough back supply they had them sitting outside of the cases for two months at walmart. I havent been able to catch a single wii or ps3 yet in those same stores. Gamestops and EB in my area have had a few wii's here and there but no ps3's their still all on the preorders with them. myself: i had my doubts bout the 360 until i played it... it felt great and played great... but the shine quickly wore off and turned to bordem, its overly western style puts me to sleep, the still rampant hardware and firmware problems disgust me, the time they have to make each update and they cant make it stable enough to not ring out the console is pathetic, sony spits them out for even little things and they dont kill your console or handheld unless you seriously ***** with it like pulling the plug, droping it while updating, or turning it off while updating. And yeah there are a few good games out for it now after a year... but they just done excite me enough to warrent buying a still rushed unstable peice of hardware. Wii and ps3, havnt played them enough to decide now
I have played the PS3 at target a while ago, all they had was motorstorm, the graphics were good and all, but i have honostly seen better, the controller is a little bit better than the PS2's but since i never really got used to using the PS2 controller i didnt care for it as much as a fanboy would, it was a improvement though. The wii to me looks like an xbox with a cool controller, and thats what it is when you get down to the specs and facts, some of you may think im wrong, but thats ok because this si just my opinion. I think in the future since i own a 360 and i love Zelda games i will have to pick up the Wii, its just too unique to ignore it. But the Wii60 to me sounds like a lot of fun, when im not practecing Gears, or Call of Duty it would be fun to stand up and shoot some guys with my Wiimote.
i got all three systems, and i do have to say the ps3 the worth every penny, got it all in one... good graphs, hd player and some montion sensing... what else would anyone need
I hear you on that John. Three Consoles, three personalities and endless potential! Can't wait to see the future games for them all! I hope new accessories do head out for the PS3. I definetly want something controller wise to add the rumble, I do miss it, but don't notice too much due to the intensity in Resistance(and my bass in my sound system, lol). All else fails, by a nice surround sound system with a sub! You'll get your rumble!
so tru...2 on one is the only way to keep the ps3 down...and just wait till the 2nd gen games come out...thats when things are gonna get fun
sorry but....its really tough to care about this crap when im playing FFVII and SotN on my PSP!!!!!!!
sony lovers are funny. They have to defend their system to the end, even at the expence of their own wallet. After reading the comments of the sony executives that said that they own their customers, I now see it is true
Games
To the guy who said 360 was readily available a month after launch, you must be from japan. In the states, 360 was not readily available until 5 months after launch. I expect the same for the wii. And just to fill you in, I've walked into gamestop on 12 different occassions and they've had PS3 60 gig models just sitting there. Everyone wants a PS3 but no one wants to spend the money expecially if there is only one good game out for it. People buy consoles to have fun, not to be patient and defend their *****in purchases. This isnt like buying a god damn dildo, you shouldnt have to defend your PS3 like this. The mere fact that there are so many people against the ps3 in the states atleast just goes to show you that sony could've have done a couple of things better. The six axis controller is the worst controller since the original xbox controller. Its pretty damn obvious they threw it together at the last minute (makes sense no? they did have the boomarang ready until april). And the size of the ps3? jeez this thing is bigger than the original xbox. And those same fans who ragged on the xbox for these same reasons DEFEND these reasons with sony. Your following blindly guys, just play the god damn games. In a year, no one will be bad mouthing sony cause they'll have good games out. For now, keep playing your ps2 games on your new console.
I have all three systems and the PS3 is collecting dust. I only used it to play Resistence and BluRay. I can wait for the better games, but oh well, invested, not well used. The Wii I wasnt expecting to buy until my son and I play at the local mall. We both had fun with it and it was more of a blast when I got it and the two kids and I play the sports games. I see a bright future for the Wii at colleges and drunken home parties, just make sure you use the handle. The 360 gets the most play just due to the better games. Im sure in another year from now there will be equal paly among all three. Im not a fan that favors any one more than the other, I like good games period. If Wii and PS3 really want to compete, they better step up the game on the online play. Without that, I dont know how long they will last. IMO.
The Wii60 is the one-two-punch that will knock PS3 out for the count. Only a fool would by a PS3 for the same price of a Wii and a Xbox360 with games and accessories. There are just too many choices this generation for gamers to allow Sony to force themselves on the public. If you want great graphics and awesome online multiplayer, you get 360. If you like colorful, dare I say kiddie games, and a fresh experience, go with the Wii. If you like being robbed and made fun of, I guess go with PS3. If all the next gen systems were girls, here is how it goes. Xbox360 is the hot, popular girl with all the friends. The Wii is that cute quirky artist girl with an original style. And the PS3 is that prud girl who everyone wants but also hates because she don't deliver on the goods.
I myself have a 360 while my sister just got a Wii for Christmas. Happy with both.. I've yet to play a PS3 though.. Its current games dont look that appealing to me.. but maybe in the future. Wii60 all the way
Your beautiful blue ray player will deteriorate over time from playing games and watching HD movies. i wouldn't use the ps3 to watch movies :S just like i wouldn't watch dvd movies on a 360. If ps3 gets the external blueray player that'd be great! :)
www.wii60scene.com wii60scene.com is your number one source for all thins wii60, with interviews media and news on everything to do with the wii60 campaign www.wii60scene.com in our latest interview we speak with Microsoft Japan Head of gaming Iawata Desiksu about the fad that is wii60 www.wii60scene.com
If the PS3 Graphics+bluray+HD-DVD drive of Xbox360 and motion sensetivity of Wii and all their games conbined we would have 1 heck of a Console but Nintendo and Microsoft and Sony fight to much
Sony has delayed NZ and Aussies PS3 way to many times first Japan and America release to december 2006 then december 2006 delay again to March 2007 and there giving us a $1299 release even tho it'll be so much cheaper everywhere else
