The Wii Weekend Warrior: when will these games get here already? |
Ó

Hey there, Wii gamers! Welcome to the second edition of the Wii Weekend Warrior where we keep you up to date on the hottest news for the Wii this week. We've got lot of updates in store for you, so let's get started!
The Wii is HARDCORE!
Who ever said the Wii is a fad? It has massive sales the world over, outselling its fellow seventh-gen consoles in the process, it's the console with the largest demographic appeal, and it has constant top-selling releases. It even has a shot at being the best selling system of all time. The Wii is hardcore!

Speaking of hardcore, I bet a lot of you have been waiting on news for more hardcore games, and we have some news on Sadness, a game which I'm personally really looking forward to.Considering we only seem to be getting updates for the game every three months or so, you might have forgotten about the game. It's an upcoming survival-horror game that's aimed at adults with strong nerves.
If that doesn't sound hardcore, you have some high standards there. At any rate, the game's studio has announced that the game's release window is Fall 2009, and we'll get more info on it at the Leipzig Convention. A trailer is also set to be released sometime in the near future. They've also updated the game's website, if you're up for it.

Season of sequels
Cooking Mama is hardcore! For those who like to cook? Anyhoo. Cooking Mama World Kitchen, the latest game in franchise, will be getting a new dimension. A third dimension that is. It's fun and all, but I hope it's not just the same thing in a different package.
While we're on the subject of same things in different packages, Electronic Arts has decided that Boogie is worth a sequel and has announced Boogie Superstar. Although the previous game bombed, they may be on to something when they decided to repackage the game for the tween market.
Now it's one thing to repackage a game, and it's quite another to modernize a classic. Have you guys seen the gameplay trailer to Sonic Unleashed? Marvelous. Sonic never looked better. Well, at least he doesn't kiss any humans in this game. That was disturbing. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're better off. Now here's that trailer I was talking about earlier:

Anyhow, let's get back to the news. More updates from Konami on the upcoming Castlevania: Judgement. It seems that you'll need to play the DS Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia to be able to unlock additional content in the game. Not too subtle with the marketing ploy, are they? A Fall 2008 release window was also announced.

Moving on, you guys would have heard of the Rock Band sequel by now. The great news is, all downloadable content from the previous game will be compatible with the sequel, and there are at least 80 songs available on the game disc itself.
Oh, and if you haven't heard yet, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is out this week.

Wii Shop Channel

Not much by way of the Wii Shop Channel this week. What's new from WiiWare is is Magnetica Twist, kind of like PopCap's Zuma, except you have your Mii launching the marbles. From the Virtual Console is the kickass game, Fatal Fury 2.

New downloadable content is available for Europe and other PAL territories this week for Square Enix's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. For a couple hundred points you get several new dungeons and outfits. Not much, but why not?

Because I'm a geek
Japan and the US may have been enjoying Super Smash Bros. Brawl for some time now, but Europe only got their copies just this week. It's just as much of a smash there as everywhere else though. In a sort-of homage (sort-of, because I only happened on it by accident), I present to you the Super Mario decals from Blik. Make your room into Super Mario World and go rescue the princess in another castle!

One for the books
It's not exactly the comment of the week, but this conversation deserves to be mentioned here. A few days ago, Nintendo lost an appeal in an infringement case regarding their controllers. They were required to pay US$ 21 million to Anascape, Ltd.
Mister Common Sense jumped in with his opinion on the matter, which was instantly jumped on by Xastabus and ISOHaven. Here is the first part of a rather engaging conversation. Follow the link below to read the whole exchange.

Sadness. The game I mean. I'm really looking forward to it, and Fall 2009 is sooooo far awaaaay. Sadness. The emotion this time. Anyway, I'll see you all next week in another edition of the Wii Weekend Warrior!
