As if Nintendo's claim wasn't enough to highlight the Wii's success worldwide, Edward Herrmann, an applications developer for the Colgate-Palmolive Global Development team, praised the Wiimote for it's simplistic innovation into player-game interaction. After a couple of Wii games in the office, his fellow colleagues thought they could apply the same Wiimote technology to office applications.Yes, that's right: work using the Wiimote. They converted the Wii to work for their project tracking applications, just as you would handle a mouse. And it worked.
The geek behind the conversion, Mark Szczerbaniewicz (now don't hurt yourself trying to pronounce it), was also able to integrate the Wii into the enterprise's core operations with Ruby on Rails connected to a SAP BW backend.
So now they are able to use the Wii while viewing upcoming projects and their requirements and available resources through a Wiimote-friendly drag and drop interface. First good health, then active social interaction, now business - the Wii is making waves yet again. Well, you know what they say: "All play and no work makes Wii a dull boy."
