The Legend of Zelda for GameCube Delayed; New Sword Fighting Details Revealed |

IGN reveals that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the GameCube will not launch at the same time as its version for the Wii will. The Wii version will be available at launch (November 19) while the GameCube version will not be released until December 11 of this year.
Another disappointment comes in at how the sword in the game will be used. We were all hoping that it was going to have a 1:1 ratio after Nintendo announced they were changing how it would function, but we won't be getting exactly what we want just yet. It's still completely gesture-based.
"The slicing mechanic is not one-to-one, which means that it feels
nothing like holding and swinging a baseball bat in Wii Sports
Baseball, for instance. Rather, if players gesture a swipe, Link will
also swipe his sword - but it may not be in the same direction. We
motioned several up and down swipes and occasionally Linked sliced
sideways anyway."
Hopefully Nintendo will have it one-to-one by its launch. It's something we desperately want to see in this game. It'll just feel tacked on if it's gesture-based. Regardless, we'll still be getting the game.

Also, the one-on-one sword swing will be fine. I mean, a vertical swing causes a vertical swing, and a horizontal swing causes a horizontal swing. It's fine, really... It doesn't need to be one-on-one at all, as it will still play well. In fact, it could be worse 1-on-1. Nintendo won't bother changing it as it plays well and doesn't need to be changed.
And don't bother listening to that Ralph guy. He's just some guy who wants to anger Nintendo fanboys, don't let him win. He doesn't know what he's missing out on anyway.

As for the 1:1 swordplay, please, QJ, do not post your "insightful" OPINION about the feature as news. Fact is, it's ALREADY good news that the gesture-swing feature will be included at all. Making it 1:1 is more of an additional feature that should be applauded if it is included, but not entirely expected.
I say, kudos to Nintendo for delivering. A lot of people seem to keep allowing their "disappointments " to overcome their rationality.
