Manhunt 2 - Image 1With all the ruckus that the video game industry manages to get itself into, it really isn't hard coming up with a video game that can be attached to the word "scandalous". With this in mind, GamePolitics managed to come up with a list of games and gaming-related events that stirred up the headlines with scandals that could rival Hollywood's daily dose of intrigue.

GamePolitics didn't fail to include the Xbox 360's undeniable trend of console failures - which Microsoft still denies at this point. Indeed, with so many replacement consoles being sent to disgruntled Xbox 360 owners, its hard not to believe that the trademark Red Ring of Death has already become a nationwide symbol of doom and gloom.

Of course, who couldn't forget Manhunt 2 and Resistance: Fall of Man? Who couldn't forget Jack Thompson's smile on his face when he said that the Adult Only rating received by Manhunt 2 in the US was "delicious", or the way Nintendo and Sony quickly dropped the game as soon as Manhunt 2 was deemed essentially unplayable?

There's also the recent problems with using semi-fictitious religious backdrops as settings in video games, specifically in response to the portrayal of a fictitious cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man. With the religious controversy Resistance: Fall of Man has stirred up, many gamers and religious groups have debated whether copyrighted works of art (even if the copyright is about hundreds of years old) can be featured in in games, and even whether the game's inclusion of the religious sanctuary is an act of sacrilege. Even Tony Blair and the Parliament have gotten themselves caught in the mix, so its clearly a shoo-in to the list.

These and other seemingly 'atrocious' games are featured in GamePolitics' list, with titles such as Columbine, and Super Columbine Massacre RPG. Quite a nice read? It sure is, especially if you're a fan of video game history, scandals, or both. Enjoy!

» yeah no s*it

Did MS ever deny console failures?? Of course they didn't announce it, and perhaps understated how many, but deny it? Way to put a spin on it and show your true fantard ways, sally b.

At least they have the disasterous violence infested PS3 launches on the list too. Sally b didn't list that one though.

Heh heh!

Yep - that he does.

He gets his panties in a wad whenever it becomes apparent how poorly designed the 360 hardware is, as far as reliability is concerned.

m$ did not deny it but they did say that the return rate was about 5% when in reality it is like 25%~33%. I have the Xbox and the wii and my xbox has been replaced 2 times

» In accurate

For a start Hot Coffee was FIRST released on PC.. the way they have it written you'd think they'd have you believe that Hot coffee was ONLY in the PS2 version.

» Yes. They did.

Microsoft DID INDEED deny console failures. They blamed them on people using surge protectors, for example.

Please read this, you will be excited. When you click this link, http://xrl.us/2z4h you will go to a website that will show you how to sign up for another website that pays you 2 - 45$ (PER) to do surveys, sign up for trial offers, and test products.

Companies such as ebay pay CC to have people try their offers, and when you complete an offer, CC simply passes the money onto you. By spending an average of 3-4 hours a week on cascrate,

I have made 472$ in May, 412$ in June, and 271$ (SO FAR) in July. You get paid in real checks from "KNGSIDE MEDIA" every month that you earn 10 dollars or more. It may seem too good to be true,

but I assure you it IS true. Also, with their referral program, you can refer people by sending them your link (you get when you sign up) and for every buck they earn, you get 20 cents also! (Think how much money you can make if you have 100 people making five bucks a day)

You do not have to enter your credit card or social security number. Nothing Harmful can come from CC. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE 18 OR OLDER, I AM 15 YEARS OLD AND REFERRING PEOPLE, AND I MAKE THIS MUCH MONEY A MONTH

JUST SPENDING A COUPLE MINUTES A DAY ON THE COMPUTER! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR READING THIS.

Think it's a scam? Read this(from the website) "We assure you that this is not a scam! Companies need consumers to try and review products, services, and websites and are willing to pay money to have them do so.

Most of the time you're asked to do this without any compensation, what we do is take the money companies give us for YOUR participation, and give you back up to 75% of it!"

There are alot of websites like this, I have tried almost all of them and this really is the best, and legit one.In addition there is a new UK section opened with more then $200 worth of free offers!

[NO AGE REQUIREMENT, NO CREDIT CARD, NO DETAILED INFORMATION, AND YOU DONT HAVE TO GIVE A SINGLE PENNY!]

"The gaming industry's scandals of all time".

Missing a word, are we?

If you're going to post a provocative article, you'd do well to at least proofread the silly thing.

@Thinker: I wouldn't criticize them too much. Despite having a ~33% failure rate, that still leaves 67% unaccounted for. Maybe if it was over half the consoles, it could actually be considered a scandal...
