According to the site, the staff spent hours researching sales facts from sources to track the sales of the consoles and monitor the upcoming next generation console wars. The numbers that will be posted are only estimates, but they will be updated to keep the figures as accurate as possible. Naturally, the current score has Xbox 360 leading the pack 3.8 million to zilch.

i think this is a pretty pointless post. everyone knows the only next gen console out is x360, so its obviously going to sell more consoles than ps3 and Wii, cos they aren't bloody out yet.

I can see all the misinformed hicks out there coming in the store and seeing the XBOX 360 and saying "that sure is neat, the paddle has no string attached. Is this the new Nintendo? Lets buy one. Do you have that new rasalin game, you know the one with the Bushwackers? Wheres the slot for the game? Who put this beer coaster in the box? How do you get this cord hooked up to these two screws on the back of the tele? You don't need that just cut the wire and connect it on them two screws. Why won't it work? Turn that there knob to channel 3. It's fuzzy with a loud noise. Put that matchbook back in the knob. It works better like that. This thing still won't work. Turn it upside down. What was that rubbing noise coming from the box? Oh shoot!!!"

It has nothing to do with units sold, it's adding 1 to X360's count in a regular period.
So it's just made up to convince X360 fans that this console is the leader.
If Sony makes it an gets 2mio units out in they'r firt shipment on nov. 17th witch probably will be sold out the other day. Well I guess I can say M$ already lost the war by numbers...
Seems the sales of the Xbox360 have really taken a decline. I expected them to at least sell 5 million units by the time the PS3 is released but that doesnt seem to be the case. At this rate the Nintendo Wii and PS3 will will blow by the Xbox360 before the middle of 2007.

Even though it stands at 3.8 million, those are sales in North America. Now, Microsoft aims to sell 10 million worldwide by the end of this year.

Anyone who needs convincing that the xbox 360 is the current sales leader is an idiot. There is no other contender on the market, so of course it's the leader. And the reason it increases every n seconds is most likely that whoever made the site took the current number of units sold divided by the time difference between when the data was gathered and the 360 launch day. This gives an approximation of consoles sold per second. It's then fairly easy to write a script which increments the current number of consoles sold over a regular interval. I would be curious to know what that interval is and alos whether this is U.S. or international sales, as the site doesn't seem to indicate one way or the other, that I've found.
The people who bought 360 was an idiots. The people who will buy Ps3 are even more idiots because it is expensive and ridiculous. The people who will buy Wii are a winners and smart things to do. :)

Obviously xbox 360 is winning cause it's the better of the three next gen platforms,it's just nice to see how well it's doing.It truly brings a tear to my eyes ,really.

it's kind of hard to declare a winner when the rest of the competition hasn't even *shown up* yet, Yaz. the fact that 360 sales have declined isn't a good sign. also, the fact that the 360 has bombed horribly in Japan isn't a good sign. the fact that the 360 has only had a few major releases (ie, Oblivion, though that's available on PC also, which is the version i own) since it's launch isn't a good sign.
when Gears of War, Crackdown, Too Human, and Mass Effect come out later this year (at least they *better*), i see the sales of 360's picking up again, as more killer titles will be released. i was going to buy a 360 a month ago, but when i went to EB, there was *nothing* on the system that was worth having, and that i couldn't get on my PC.
sure, Microsoft is planning on selling 10 million units worldwide, but when one quarter of the gaming market refuses to buy your system (Japan), it may be a little difficult to reach that goal. i see them selling 5, 6 million by the time the Wii and PS3 launch.

OK it's a nice idea, but nothing can be gained from it now. Plus if it just adds numbers on randomly and doesn't look at changes in the market it is horribly innacurate.
I'm a PS3 addict, but I can't say anything fanboyish, because all I have done is seen videos and screens of it.

Where are they going to sell the other estimated 7 million units. The most wanted console in Europe is the PS3 and the Wii and PS3 both own Japan. i actually see microsoft thriving in the last quarter.. mainly becuase it will probably be really hard to get your hands on a PS3 or Wii due to shortages. which will probably lead parents (and some gamers) to go with the 360.
if were talking about the same goal, 10 million units, and theyve sold 3.8 million, then selling 7 million more would put them 1 million OVER their goal. learn to do some math, retard. nice try to make it sound worse, though. but when you think about it, cheap game systems are not going to push the market to new heights, its going to alienate gamers as people who want to be children again because they play with a toy all the time. The contoller will also further alienate nintendo loyal by creating a gap thats much larger than just porting, its controller creates a problem in itselft for multi platform devs. But then again since the nintendo days, nintendo always did perfer to have mainly first party support and made it hard for third party devs to like them much. Im getting one for virtual console and the few games that look promising (nes ff3 remake and mario), but im also getting a ps3 for its third party games, rpgs, action, and platformers. Oh and the odd too. I may get a 360 when it starts getting games that appeal to my tastes but that will be long after my pockets recover from the holes ill burn in them with the ps3.

I just don't see how they are going to sell 10 mill before PS3 and Wii launches. Maybe if they didn't go out early and their system was filled with problems, which also slowed down manufacutring with lower numbers then they anticipated, they might have actually accomplished their goal.
I'm a Sony fanboy, but I'm worried about the Wii. Their controller's setup, might be an excuse for developers to create dumb and unimaginative games. Anygame can be created using the motion dectection, so you have a wider field to work with.
On the other hand, it can be the opposite and Wii will suprise everyone, and come out victorious. Or PS3 will prove that brand power can sell an expensive system, and be the first very expesive console not to flop because of its price, and Blu-ray might become their first seccessful format. Even xbox360 might suprise everyone. Perhaps they will finally break through Japan, and the Japenese gamers will finally start enjoying shooting people (perhaps with Halo 3), and blowing the crap out of things.
This is exactly why gamers should be glad they are alive for the greatest and most unperdictable Next-gen war yet.
1,2,3,4 360 breaking through Japan is a chore.
