During the TGS, Capcom has announced new details regarding its upcoming Wii game Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii game console. In this iteration of the popular series, players will be able to use the new Wii Zapper peripheral and they can pair up with friends for co-op play.Product Marketing Director of Capcom, Jack Symon, said:
Resident Evil has become one of the premier franchises in the games industry, with more than 30 million RE games sold around the world. The innovative controller functionality of the Wii will allow us to design innovative, original game play never before seen in a Resident Evil game. With The Umbrella Chronicles, weÂ’re adapting Resident Evil to the innovations of the Wii.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is an on-rails shooting game that will utilize the Wii Zapper light gun controls. The plot takes place across Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
The twist in how the survival horror series is played comes as no surprise as the Wii's controls account for a big part of its appeal. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is expected to do even better than Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition which debuted on the platform earlier this year.

why would I use the zapper when I could use other 3rd party controllers which are not in the two handed configuration (pistol) style, allowing me to also use the nunchuck like normal?
