Team Twiizers has looked through the Wii's new System Menu 4.0 (the one that has the new SD Card Menu) and found out a few interesting things about it.

The best news for homebrewers is that both the Homebrew Channel and DVDX are still working. The bad news is that the Twilight Hack no longer works. Here's what Marcan posted:
  • Nintendo, as expected, half-assed the SD feature by just automating the copy to NAND. No surprise there.
  • The IOS16 that warez users used to pirate is no longer an option, thank goodness.
  • HBC survives. So does DVDX.
  • They fixed the bug that the HBC installer and DVDX 3.4 installer use; time to bring out another one.
  • Twilight Hack no longer works. IÂ’d like to remind everyone that this exploit has been in use for over a year. Whether it comes back or a new game exploit takes its place, I think we can say itÂ’s served us all well.
  • No new problems expected with BootMii, other than needing a new exploit as mentioned above.
Thanks to Lowsnamebrand for the tip!

» Soo.....

For us current homebrew users the new update really does nothing.

It patches one IOS and now the TWhack and HBC/DVDx installers don't work.

And nintendo added the sd card menu, but all it really does is copy it to the system temporarily to play.

Sounds like a bull***** update. Does essentially nothing but break everything for new HB users.

» Actually...

It's quite a substantial update. By doing what they did to the SD Cards, the slot can now have Virtual Console and WiiWare games run off of it. Not to mention that you can now fully utilize a full size SDHC card...that's 32gigs of space now. So if your Wii is already modded definitely update and get these goodies.

» as ISOHaven would say !?!?!?!WTF!?!?!?!?

Why would you say "thank god", like backing up a 50 dollar game that really should be 20 dollars is a bad thing? I legally own all my wii games and dont have the ios19 or w/e they mention but I wish I did!! i had to rebuy a couple games cause little kids stepped on them here.

» Wad Manager.....

Apparently the update breaks WAD Manager, at least version 1.3. I get an error installing the WAD file, or rather creating the ticket for it, error -2011
