Yep. The Wii rumor mill just keeps going round and round with yet even more fodder this time around. One would think that with the release date so close, the rumors would finally stop, but apparently this isn't the case as there are still some buzzer-beating bits out there. The latest one has been dubbed as "The Wii Target Code" (insert more Dan Brown/Leonardo Da Vinci puns here), as rift029 from the IGN boards has suggested a way that SUPPOSEDLY allows you to determine just how many Wii units your local Target branch has in stock.

Basically, the process involves finding out your chosen Target branch's store number. This can be done by either looking it up in the phonebook or giving the store a call and asking for it. Then you'll have a series of numbers with you which looks like this:

3 124 191 551 24 3

The first number in the sequence means that you're looking at store #3, while the second to the last number means that that branch will have 24 Wiis.

Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? However, this method is yet to be tested if it's true, so if anyone cares to give this a try, please do let us know if it works.

Shenanigans! This is some retarded sh*t!

» Obviously

fake.

Why would the store's store number, which is assigned when the store is built, happen to predict the future of how many Wii's they will have?

You guys suck at posting news.

Um, this makes no sense. The Store number was not CREATED WITH FUTURE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE WII WOULD EVEN EXIST! You should delete this and punch yourself in the balls as hard as you can.

» what the..

What are you guys on about? the store number doesnt have anything to do with the amount, the SECOND TO LAST number is the amount they have.

I dont know if its true, just figured you guys should learn to read.

» listen...

the whole string is their store number. Why would they give you more than the first number when you asked, if the first number is the store number?

by Josh - 2006-11-05 21:57
» Huh?

What are you on about? The only thing stated is that we look up the store number, which I am guessing gives those numbers. Did the poster merely leave out a step? If those numbers are not the store numbers, where do you get them?

by Josh - 2006-11-05 22:02
» Ahh

I followed the link and read the original post. Apparently there is a list. You take your STORE NUMBER and that is how you FIND THOSE numbers. Silly. THe poster simply didn't explain it well enough.

» ah...

» Complete BS

I work at Target 1148 and I know the backroom people, our PDAs to find products in our store doesn't show the inventory of the Wii just its price and launch day

Who ever submitted this doesn't know what they are talking about.

I am a certified worker of Hallmark, and we're not expecting any Wii's but, be sure to check out our new line of menstrual cramp cards.

Read the original IGN post. This does seem legit. If you look at the IGN post it's too elaborate to be a hoax. My closest store is getting 69. That should be enough for me to just walk-up and get one.

Now where's the PS3 cheat sheet?

With this you can just do a search and find your store.
