We all know what fanboys think about the consoles of their choice (as well as their thoughts about the others). The question is what do Japanese game developers think about the next-gen consoles? Famitsu Mag took it upon themselves to ask 58 game developers (directors, programmers and designers) from 19 game companies about next-gen consoles and here are the results.Which next-gen console will send cash registers ringing:

PS3 press for US is just as bad as Japan. I have personally talked to many people who were once diehard PS3 ppls who are now looking at the Wii. With no other choice this Christmas season--due to limited PS3 supply--many people will be happy to take a chance on the Wii who normally would not give it a second look. That's not to mention all the rabid Nintendo fanboys who will be first in line anyway.

The only thing I hate more than Microsoft at the most, is Nintendo. If Microsoft managed to persuade people into buying into a 360, Nintendo managed to sell the whole freaking hype!
Christ, Miyamoto himself even said wii is nothing more than a gamecube 2 yet you all are so hard up on Nintendo--all of a sudden--that innovation is what you want! Get a *****ing clue, Nintendo is selling you a updated current-gen console with a gimmick controller and a slew of "innovative" party games! Since when have buttons ever been a problem?? Your fat ass doesn't want to press to many buttons but now you want to swing your wrist around like a fruity conductor? and also the new Zelda game was orignally intended for gamecube, now all of a sudden the gamecube title is pushed back further than the wii's first port! And don't even get me started on original IPs, this is the same company whose mascot has over 10 games a year.

Why must everyone care so much about what is better ps3, wii, 360. I for one am getting all 3. (already have a 360) Each one has good exclusive games for it, and its own benifits that are obvious and different.
360 has great live online and marketplace demos and arcade, has great power, HDVD somday, and a good library of games. PS3 has raw power, neato connectivity to PSP, BD, nice dpad, good lib of games and long lifespan. Nintendo has a tiny pretty shiny toy with a new gimmic controller and many quirky proprietary games.
Whats not to love? Get all of them. Now I just need a mega input selector or AV unit to control all the junk. Too bad you can't join all 3 consoles to make some kind of mega robot. Wii's controler on PS3's hardware, with 360s Live. Lolers

Fact is Sony have tried to hype their system just as much as Nintendo and just as much as Microsoft. The difference is Nintendo are getting positive press across the board from developers, publishers, reporters, and gamers.
For the past 5+ years, it has been almost impossible to hear anything positive about Nintendo or anything negative about Sony. Well now the tables have turned, and you and your friends are all bent out of shape. Well, get over it. Nintendo have been around for a while, and they are not going anywhere soon just like Sony and MS. So quit being a little *****, and just be glad you have a choice.
I have a 360 and ive got a wii and ps3 on pre-order ...but i really cant justify three consoles.
right now I am considering selling the 360 because i reckon the ps3 will just be a bigger better more badass games system but its atleast 6 months away over here (uk) .........infact this problem has been bugging me ever since I pre ordered them ...
i think I might sell the wii on ebay if i can and then hang on to the 360 and maybe check oyut gears of war and COD3 and then when the ps3 comes i'll get rid of it ...because serioulsy... all three consoles would have cost me way over a thousand.

Then, when all else fails, the best form of government--for now--is democracy. Of course, XBOX360 is alway last place and vote in Japan. Same opposite as America and Europe developers and votes are favour XBOX360 leader. But I am not live in Japan and I am American. This Japanese number is nothing affect me and I don't care about Japanese market if XBOX360 is failing in the future. dude...first i gotta say that im a sony guy...have been since ps1, before that i had nes and snes...so i dont care to much for the lamebox 1.5...HOWEVER as a American it really pisses me off that those phukcs in japan always think their tech is so much better that the US's....i dont plan on getting a lamebox but damn...they have no respect...i kno ps3 or the wii will end up being 1st but i dont believe that the lamebox will come in last like they do...ill get a lamebox b4 a wii thats for damn sure
LOL Naruto, that ***** has been announced since Xbox360 launch day or some where around then, and all we get to see is some concept art. Oh and who the hell cares, there are about 3-8 Naruto games out for the PS2 + PSP already. Gamecube has a few too! I doubt the Xbox360 one would be a killer.
Seriously though, Xbox360 only fails because it lack variety, although more games are starting to come out for it, it's kinda late. Gamecube, meh, only really played SSB but it is worth it. Wii will be worth it alongside of the PS3.

I do agree with branden above the xbox360 sells won't take off again untill or near halo 3's launch. But as for for the poor sales in Japan, I've always considered the the xbox mainly a shooter game console which is popular here but not in Japan. On other hand Sony which is famous for its numerous RPG titles.As for The PS3 Will do very at launch because of the hardcore Rpg gamers

And i think the most important thing that put Sony in first place is they really want to make new type of games base on AI, physic and realistic virtual world (life). It's not really the machine who will make the difference (because xbox360 can be very close), but MOSTLY what they will do with it that going to be amazing!

This info is shocking considering the 360 is selling like hotcakes in Japan...
a few things:
i'm 27 years old, and have been playing video games since the NES in 1985 (i played Atari too, but that was after the NES blew my socks off).
retro gaming is nice, but a system's main selling point should not be retro gaming. we aren't buying a PS3, Wii, or 360 to play PS1/PS2/NES-N64/X Box games. we're buying a new console for new gaming experiences. whether through purty graphics, or innovative gameplay. as long as we find the game entertaining, it doesn't have to have both, one, or the other. for example, God of War isn't an innovative game by a long shot, but it's one of the best representations of it's genre out there. conversely, Shadow of the Colossus (which i've been playing again all week), is terribly innovative, and a great looking game also.
Nintendo has made a killing on repackaging familiar software/characters/hardware and selling it back to the consumer at full price. this needs to stop. while i don't have a problem with them releasing a brand new Mario or Zelda or Metroid game, i do have a problem with them re-re-releasing Super Mario Bros, and charging you over $2 for it.
i'm a Playstation fan for the most part, but i own a Gamecube and an X Box as well (my fiance is playing my X Box right now. i play my PS2 the most, she plays the X Box the most) Sony is far from perfect, and i understand that they are a business designed purely to take my money (which is only theirs because i *CHOOSE* to give it to them, Sony, Microsoft, nor Nintendo are holding a gun to my head and forcing me to do anything. if i didn't like or want Blu Ray, i wouldn't be buying a PS3. these corporations don't make us do anything). i will continue to be a Playstation fan as long as they keep giving me AAA titles like the afformentioned God of War, and Shadow of the Colossus, as well as Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and 3rd party hits like the Final Fantasy series, Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, and whatever else they and their third parties have in store for me.
though i'm a Playstation fan at heart, nothing is going to stop me from enjoying what Microsoft and Co, and Nintendo have to offer me with their new systems. yes, i'm getting a Playstation 3 first, but i'll get the other two at some point as well. i love *Videogames*, not moneyhungry corporations. considering the ammount of high quality entertainment i've recieved from Sony, MS, and Nintendo these past 20 years i've been gaming, i can turn a blind eye to their less than pleasant business practices. when people are truly getting hurt, i'll stand up and shout, but when a business is doing business, it's of little concern to me as the end user. all i care about is how Assassin's Creed, DMC4, MGS4, and FFXIII will play once i get my grubby mitts on them, regardless of which console gets it first, second, or ever.
companies upgrade their graphics every generation because it's expected. it's the clear indicator to those on the outside that what they are getting is new, and not like the last product they purchased 5 years ago. outside of the wand, unfortunately, the Wii does not relay that message. it takes an awful lot of explaining on the part of Nintendo PR, fans, etc, to get the Wii message across. looking at a game like Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, MGS4, FFXIII, Lair, Resistance, etc, very quickly conveys the message to gamers and non-gamers alike that things are going to be different this time around. Damn it isnt looking good for Microsoft in Japan is it? Ah well, to be honest it was a lost cause from the get-go, I don't think that Microsofts next console there will sell at all (Microsoft are supposedly in this for the long haul- i.e. there will be a 3rd console eventually)- in Japan.
Im starting to agree with some of the PS3 fanboys here to some degree. Ive gotten my Wii pre-order set for November, along with copies of Zelda and Red Steel, but I ask now. What the hell am I paying for here? Honestly, if the Wii is just essentially a GC, why arent they charging at least ÂŁ50-ÂŁ70 less? My preorder is going to cost me almost ÂŁ280, the same as what I payed for my 360... Im seriously concidering dropping my order now and picking the Wii up in a few years time when I get can it for little over ÂŁ60 on eBay. Apart from Zelda and the novelty that "I had one at launch" thing, the Wii is starting to look more and more like a huge con... It's the same with the frickin DS Lite, WHY couldnt they do that to begin with? Suddenly my ÂŁ100 handheld is worthless because a newer model has just come out. Oh wait, it comes in an Apple-like white and has a brighter screen....for ONLY ÂŁ100? Damn, what a bargain. Il stop here, because im starting to get worked up, but DAMN Nintendo know how to take the piss and milk us all. Forget what I said about "might" earlier on, im dropping my Wii-order, hell in a years time there maybe a smaller version or something...
One more thing...isnt anyone started to get kinda excited about the PS3? The launch list is getting pretty decent now, and even though alot of people say it's being forced on everyone, I really could do with a HD movie player now. Standard DVDs come out *****e on my 40" Sony Bravia...

anyway, continuing on from my last post:
without the graphical upgrade, those that are accustomed to it will be hard pressed to find a reason to justify purchasing the new console over the old one, simply because, along with the graphical upgrade, gamers and casual gamers have come to expect new gaming experiences, and so far, in the past 20 years, that's exactly what we've gotten. you telling me that Castlevania 3, and Super Castlevania 4 are exactly the same type of experience? that the move from 2D to 3D didn't bring about new gaming experiences and franchises? that the move from CD to DVD didn't make games like GTA3 possible? new technology isn't all about the graphics, but it should be understood that at the beginning, developers focus on the graphics. then, about a year or two in, we start to see the true benefits of what having a new console over the old one would mean.
check out Mass Effect, and Bioshock. this supports my theory. when the 360 launched, it's titles were pretty mediocre, with only a few standing out, but simply because they were attached to a formula or franchise that we were familiar with, gameplay wise. now that the system has almost a year under it's belt, we're seeing the benefits of purchasing a 360 (the abovementioned titles to name only 2). the same will happen with the PS3. we see what's coming out at launch (and i happen to think the launch lineup of the PS3 is pretty impressive as far as launches go: the PS2 launch was pitiful, and that's being nice).
looking to the future, to games like Assassin's Creed, Heavenly Sword, DMC4, Resident Evil 5, MGS4, and Final Fantasy XIII, we see that the innovation and gameplay jump is coming. but developers have to build up the capital to support those endeavours first. so they throw out a sequel here, spinoff there. come 2008, the 360 and PS3 will be screaming with new IPs and franchises, but i ultimately worry about the Wii. it's power is slightly greater than an X Box. sure, development hurdles have been overcome, they've learned the hardware in and out, but there's not much else to go in terms of growth. a game like Assassin's Creed would have a hard time on the Wii, and not just graphically. it lacks the processing power to execute a game that complex. same with Bioshock, or even Crackdown (that game is a lot of fun. i've played it, and it really should be getting more press. it has "sleeper hit" written all over it).
as a gamer who wants to see more complexity and realism in my titles (and not just visually, i mean social interactions and deeper immersion), it's going to take more than an innovative controller to keep me interested. Bioshock fascinates me because of it's depth. Assassin's Creed fascinates me because of it's complex social structure. those types of games will be absent for my Wii. luckily, all 3 developers are travelling down different paths. the Wii has it's place, as does the 360 and PS3. it would be more troublesome if all 3 console manufacturers shared this same, "lets just stick with the current hardware/game design philosophy" that Nintendo is walking down. at least i have alternatives if i don't want to drink what Nintendo is.
that's the beauty of this upcoming console generation. ever since i've been gaming, the major hardware manufacturers have been going after the same market and demographics. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony this time around are not. meaning more variety for everyone. i've said it before (though it's been awhile), so i'll say it again: it's a great time to be a gamer. we seriously need to stop all of this fanboy hate.

Well who cares if the wii is just a gamecube 2, people want it, and it isnt just the same god damned thing, the PS3 and the 360 are the same old thing, the wii offers a new way to play games, while the ps3 and the 360 only offer nicer visuals for those people who only care about graphics. Being able to download the old games from previous consoles is good, and also if u did a little research you would know that the PS3 or the PS2 let alone the PS woulsnt have even been created unless Nintendo tried to make a disk slot for the SNES
they are right! the xbox 360 have 2 great games ( mistwalker games lost odyssey and blue dragon ) but nothing else to offer... even if you like FPS, the xbox is not even the best this time :S , the ps3 have more, weird, I know.
the wii is easy money because wii devkits are at ~1000$ and less!!! ( compared to 10000$ for ps3/x360 each ). And the graphics are "okay" but nothing next gen on that, the wii is based like the ds, not on graphics but on "special" features!
finally ps3 is better, I LOVE LOVE LOVE FFXII ( I know it's kind of lame to play a copied disc... BUT the game is not even on shelf.. maybe I'll buy the EBgames special edition for my collection.... anyway, FFXIII and versus XIII ( team of KH1/KH2 W advent children team WOW ) looks too good.

The real difference between Xbox 360 and PS3 is that one has a Blue Ray drive and the other a dvd drive.

The fact is, 360 is a proven technology that works and has delivered, for almost a year now.
PS3 will not be out for a month and still isnt showing us any concrete PS# in action! Trust me I look, Most of it is pretty video clips, or in action video that looks comparable to 360.
I havent seen any press conference or video of the online gaming, or even a real plan of how it will work!
And please! both systems are going to have the same multi platform games with a few custom games, which for both sides rock!
In the end, if Sony can deliver all these promises they have made but not shown. I will concede that Sony is better.

There should be tons of footage of all the cool things the PS3 can do, in action. Not just some footage of some game videos.
Now the Wii! Its cheap enough, the actual gaming looks load of fun and the controls are gimmiky enough to get everyone to buy one. if theres one game we like, well all pick one up.
In conclusion, Fan boys shut up! Its all propiganda and your drownding the people in the middle with presumptions, and blind devotion. And when they buy one cause you said it is awsome, I will laugh at the lemmings, and watch them tear you fanboys apart for lying to them.
The Smart move is to wait untill Christmas, and see if it is worth buying, that way if its a turd you can buy a 360 and a Wii.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned things like load times? X360 to me is a pretty average console. I enjoy playing games on the 360 and Microsoft has pulled of some cool things with its develpoers, for example, table tennis. It's got pretty damn good graphics, and the games are usually easy to learn. The PS3 to me seems like an unneccessary investment. Sony has messed up on so many things with the PS3. For example, LOADTIMES! Blu-ray is still a new technological advancement that happens to have some flaws still, like a 72Mb transfer rate. Do the research, 72Mega Bits is equal to about 9MegaBytes. So to fill an average game cache of about 256MBs you'll be looking at about a minute of load time. Not fun. Wii by Nintendo, should have signifigantly reduced load times. Nintendo's president himself even said he can't stand load times, at the Nintedno e3 pres conference. He said one of the main features about the Wii will be reduced loadtimes. Also, another Sony mishap is the whole, "hmm, motion and tilt sensing must be cool, lets add an amazing 8 degrees of tilt sensing, annnnd cut out any feedback like a rublepak, etc, etc...". So, in finishing, for me if I want to play games with amazing graphics, I play a 360. If I want to play a whole new gaming style thats fresh an dinnovative and will be fun, I play a Wii. If I want to play a game with amazing graphics comparible to the 360, but hindered with long load time cut features and delayed games, I... throw the PS3 out the window.

This is a old survey now that developers saw the new games from tokyo game show 2006 for the Xbox 360 their minds have changed.
stop saying japanese people dont like american products, xbox had no games to appeal to the japanese market thats why it did not sell well, and it was not the size of the xbox either, and it is not too late for xbox 360 in japan remember the Wii the Playstation 3 have NOT launched yet and xbox 360 will have their second triple a title out on december 7, 2006 Blue Dragon, the first in my opinion is Dead Rising which by the way sold out in japan to the 150,000 xbox 360 owners, low numbers but you got to start somewhere.
PS3 is something like 10x more powerful, with motion sensors, wireless controller, free online play, next-gen video disk drive and built in harddrive. Oh and wifi, psp connectivity, downloaded videos, internet browser, and user chat w/advanced webcam too boot. Did i mention that it's backwards compatible that upscales old games and is even region free?
Wii is a step above gamcube, with a wand thats able to dect movements with few inputs and attachments that'll cost a total of 60 dollars to own. then you have simple style handheld games just like the DS, new games to old signiture characters, the opera browers (if decided to buy), mii channel, weather report or something, and i dunno whatever else they've announced. I don't pay attention.
Also, I'll give credit to hironobu. Seems like people (not just originary people too) are awaiting his games. and seriously Microsoft tries, i can remember back on it's release when they said their disign was to meet the japanese expectations. Guess it doesn't work that way...

Im looking forward to it to be honest, more so then the Wii at the moment. Don't get me wrong though, it's not like I don't like the concept behind the Wii, it's just that there is little to get me worked up about right now. Il probably buy one next year sometime when the "must-have" list has grown and there is drop in price. Right now im pretty satisfied with the 360, and ive got my eyes locked on the PS3 now as well...
