Logo of The Godfather Part II - Image 1A new batch of video game rumors has recently surfaced once again, thanks to the efforts of popular insider Surfer Girl. Today's rumors focus on some of the more mature-themed titles with mafia- and film noir-styled games taking the forefront.

It seems like Electronic Arts' upcoming video game adaptation of the Godfather series will have more things in common with Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV than most people thought. The Godfather 2 will apparently sport the same in-depth online components that GTA 4 was supposed to have.

In other "news", Microsoft Xbox 360 fan favorites Saints Row and The Outfit were both supposed to have ports for the Nintendo Wii and the Sony PlayStation Portable, respectively. However, sometime last year, the project was dropped by Mass Media, the developer working on both titles.

Surfer Girl also spilled some information regarding the much delayed L.A. Noire title. Here are a couple of the points raised by the rumor-telling savant:
  • Team Bondi's goal is to have every NPC in the city feature a distinct personality and different knowledge sets
  • The game is not being funded by Sony, who dropped the title (Phil Harrison and Brendan McNamara can't stand each other, McNamara & Company's tendency to miss milestones did not help either, but had very little to do with Phil's decision), there is nothing stopping a 360 release.
  • The amount of music in the primarily jazz soundtrack is "comparable to GTA."
  • The detecting mechanics are described as "an analysisfest" to which reaction has been polarizing, one calling the detective elements "fatally boring" and another remarking that the mechanics are "absolutely innovative." The former dubs the game "Assassin's Creed: Noir Edition" and the latter went on about "investigating the social structure of 1947 Los Angeles."
That was all Surfer Girl had to say for today's list of predictions. As always, we should all take these tidbits with a grain of salt before making any violent reactions. Don't worry, though. We'll be on top of everything should we hear anything related about the games discussed so keep coming back to QJ.NET for more updates.

that's pure non-sense

Sony never funded L.A. Noire and even if it would have made so, it wouldn't affect if the game would pop on the console.. 1st: Even without super friendshipness between the guys on the two studios, this have NOTHING to do with marketing decisions. 2nd: Rockstar make the games for the platform they want, and they were not bribed by sony to do this game for the ps3. The only "open bribed" is the M$ one for the gta4 second-hand stuff (the downlodable missions). 3rd: This rumor is looking really fake. I trust supergirl a bit, but this looks like it's just a nowhere trying to impersonate the name (steel the fame, etc). No other comments. ps: Pardon my english writting, I'm french (from canada) :D

.......

@platon 1st.Okay it'll probably be timed like former GTA games and Bully 2.Yes they do.Also, they usually give the xbox a port later on. Also it's downloadable episodes not missions lol 3.I think this could be true

you should use the "reply" instead.

Anyway, that's my answers: 1st: err, I don't understand what the "timed like former..." have something to do with the friendshipness. 2nd: Right now, they made all the x360 games before, and they are only beginning the make the ps3 games before since they realised it's easier to port on the x360 that the reverse situation (x360 architecture is simpler, more like a PC). Also, when I said missions, it's because Rockstar said the "episodes" are actually kinda "side missions" like what you can see in GTA X Stories on the PSP/PS2. It uses the same map and stuff (dah) and add new missions to do, that was my point, calling it missions of episodes is the same to me. And finally, sony is not giving monye away, they even "insult" (in a marketing way) M$ since M$ pay the developpers to earn exclusives while sony "says" they earn their trust (wich is another way of saying, we had a monopoly, we didn't need to pay them). Still, they're still not paying unless it's their own or partner studios, like polyphony (gran turismo). 3rd: That's your opinion, but next time, make it as a reply, just like this one. ps: can you please re-explain the 1st thing for me please? About the "timed like former GTA games and bully"? Thanks

Why do people still post this stuff?

This surfer ***** don't know anything. Instead of spreading a bunch of rumors she should be spreading some condiments on a sandwich. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vubYloIzCg0

@platon

1.Their relationship maybe deteriorating it's rumored Sony pulled the funding for L.A noire. http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/rumor-sony-no-longer-funding-l-a-noire/ 2.R* just like every company needs money so I don't see how they can keep making exclusives it's also rumored SONY & R* had a fulling out(go to link 1) I'll explain a bit it's supposed R* couldn't meet Sony deadline so they game may even be canceled if they can't find another publisher.R* never said side missions PLEASE don't lie.MS said they'll be expansions(means like VC and SA were expansions of GTA3),but honestly we have no idea yet.Also, I'm 100% sure MS didn't pay all that money for a few side missions.If you do have proof where they said exactly their side missions I want a link.Also, about the payment thing Sony was funding the game that was well publicized the article says that they may have pulled funding. 3.As stated already I think this is true. Now about the timed games.GTA3,Vice City and San Andreas and bully all made their way to Xbox a year after release.Hope that clears that up.Every exclusive game the playstation got always made it's way to Xbox and now that it seems Sony cut off their funding they'll need another publisher and I'll be surprised if R* would keep it exclusive.Also, honestly I'm not even interested in this game Mafia is much better,but I'm positive this will make it's way to Xbox unless Sony didn't pull the funding.
