Super Smash Bros. Brawl breaks one million units sold barrier - Image 1We all know that Sora Ltd.'s Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Nintendo Wii is going to be phenomenal and is probably the most famous game for the platform yet.

But what we don't know is that it's going to beat other Wii titles in terms of sales this easy.

According to the latest report published by Famitsu, Brawl has already reached a total of 1,082,344 units sold just after more than one week of being available in the market.

Wii Fit, in case you don't know, took seven weeks to reach the said feat. Aside from Wii Fit, Wii Sports was also the talk of the town in Japan when it first came out. However, it took the game around 11 weeks before breaking the one million barrier.

If these indications will hold true, then Super Smash Bros. Brawl is sure to take North America by storm when it gets released on March 9.

» Yeah but.....

MORE LIKE THA GREATEST GAME EVER!!!....I think it will be i honestly do.....then the wii will have SSBB, Legend of zelda Ocarina of time, and of course Mario galaxy......best games ever.....

I guess some people haven't played other systems.

I liked Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, but that isn't on the Wii, it was on the N64, way back in 1998 when Nintendo actually put some effort into game development and innovation.

I guess SSBB and Mario galaxy could be considered the best games if you're a Wii owner and have considerably lowered standards as a result. In reality, they're just marginal and predictable improvements over the previous games that have been overhyped as much as possible.

» Ha thats funny

Cause The legend of zelda can be downloaded on the wii which shows how little u really know about the wii and Mario galaxy is a phenomenal master piece in my opion and if u ever decide to take the time to read its reviews everyone else feel the same way....oh and theyre just improvments?? well what has every single GTA sequel been?? Or halo 1-3?? Hmm......or even call of duty 1-4???? yeah i see your point.....i say this in great sarcasm by the way..

It is impossible to sway a fantard's distorted opinion, but if you fail to see much improvment between GTA 3 and the new game, you're in denial. It has something a POS console like the Wii cannot simulate, realism. Mario hasn't evolved since Mario 64, he's still jumping, punching, etc. The "big" improvment this time is spherical worlds though. A major evolution there. No I haven't read the reviews, they were obviously bribed by Nintendo, I played the game myself and it's no better than Mario 64 other than the graphics and the controls are different but not really better. Nintendo has not and will not do anything new with their games other than the minimal improvments to get people to upgrade the games and systems. They have the die hard fans that have no problem buying the same game they paid $70 for 10 years ago again for another $8 like legend of zelda.

so who is the fantard? according to you mario and smash is just minimal improvements over previous, then you bring up GTA, not saying VC/SA weren't great installments, but it's the same thing. Mario had a new world, new scenario, better graphics, better controls, same idea and gameplay as original. brawl has new characters, new levels new moves, same ideal and gameplay. GTA has new levels, new missions, new characters, better graphics, same idea/concept and gameplay. so what is your point. as far as the best game of the year, we will see what sells best by the end of the year, smash, gta, or mgs4, and what gets the best reviews around the globe.

» Too bad

MCS apparently doesn't like Nintendo, if he picked up a Wii and this game, we could show him (by kicking his ass in it) how things change in games over time.

Well I have this game on gamecube and I played it twice. So I'm sure you could beat me no problem since you play it all the time. But seriously, I have games I enjoy much more, and have better ways to spend my time.

If you have an XBOX 360 and Halo 3 or Ghost Recon, I'll school you. Those games are less gay and have more to do with skill and tactics than mindless button mashing.

I think any remotely entertaining game on the Wii could sell one million no problem whatsoever because the selection so far really is horrible and anyone who denies that really is in denial.

by demondirk - 2008-02-13 05:08
» alright mister common sense

» @ MCS (wall o' text warning)

I respect the fact you prefer the 360, and agree that the selection of games on the Wii is poor, but really, do you need to bash almost anything the Wii shells out? I'm assuming you're a shooter fan (I'm one too) since you play Halo 3 (fun to play at my friends house) and Ghost Recon, so using blasting stuff with strategy is your kind of fun, but doesn't really compare to "mindless button mashing" or so you say (competitive play takes skill and practice y'know) on a game like Brawl, as other people prefer the fun in that over shooters.

Really, I'm just saying you're treading in dangerous waters (since it's under a SSBB topic), we just don't like people like you that like something, and rag on something else people like because it doesn't suit you.
