Super Mario Bros.Twenty years ago a lot of kids woke up to find Super Mario Bros. under the Christmas tree, and now we wake up to find it available for download on the Virtual Console.

Yes folks, you can now play what is probably the best-known and most-played game of all time on your Wiis, thanks to Nintendo. You can download this classic game for just 500 Wii Points.

Apart from everybody's favorite plumber, four other classics are now available on the VC. Here's all the info you'll need, courtesy of Portable Planet:
  • Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (Super NES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • Super Castlevania IV (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
  • Toe Jam & Earl (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • R-TYPE (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)

# No xmas surprise for UKGuest 2006-12-25 05:33
I assumed that these would be for UK too, but from just checking it's not looking likely.

Was looking forward to these too. Where's Nintendo's christmas present for the UK audience?

And as far as this 'doomed' console as you say you can eat your hat cuz the Wii is just like the DS and can't stop selling

Strange....why is R-Type, a TG16 game, 800 points? All other TG16 games are only 600 points

...is more expensive because its really the only TG16 game that gained popularity with the "nintendo crowd". Its going to sell, so why not make it worth more?
