Toronto-based BrandIntel recently concluded a study on the next generation consoles offered by Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony to determine which one has captured a user base most sentimental to their consoles. The study entitled "Top Video Game Console Report: Consumer Insight Monitor" used a proprietary engine to sift through user comments in forums and blogs in the Internet and has concluded that the Wii has the highest consumer sentiment.
The study ranked sentiment through a five-point scale, and the Nintendo console grabbed a high 3.7 point average (out of 5). The Xbox 360 rallied 3.4 points in average, while the PlayStation 3 collected 3.1 points in average. According to BrandIntel, this grants the Wii the potential to become the consumer choice for next-generation gaming.
The Wii currently holds the most intent to purchase, while it was discovered that the Xbox 360 is the gaming choice for hardcore gamers. The study found that consumers recommended the Wii the most, which was boosted further by numerous positive comments on the console.
The Xbox 360 rounded up top recommendations, too, because positive comments were gathered on the console's game lineup. The PlayStation 3 also received positive feedback from plenty of gamers due to its unique hardware architecture, power and relatively larger hard drive (compared to most Xbox 360 SKUs). Its score could have been higher, if it weren't for collected comments on the lack of great games and some complaints of its high costs.

I'm not into x360 (already had one, after one week I returned it at the bestbuy, I really hate gears of war (I mean, ONE usefull gun...) and it was always having a red light!!!! (and it was new :| ). Anyway, this time I'm with the ps3, before I got tempted by the numbers of titles the x360 have, but right now, it's the ps3's games that I'm interrested in. And now that eternal sonata is on the ps3, I'm even more happy with my choice

It's good to see that it's hanging around.

As for Gears of War, "platon" may not be an FPS fan. However, if he/she is indeed an FPS fan, then yes, it is hard to believe that he/she did not like GeOW.
On-topic, yes, I am not interested in the Wii either. I personally think it's low price point is one of its chief selling factors, and not anything else, like value, games, etc. If price is the only parameter for buying one, then that doesn't say well about a console, does it?

The Wii will sell more consoles than the others for a while ... I bought one when my 360 RRoD'd, but I don't play it now that my refurb has come. I wanna know the #'s for software sales cuz I thought that's what really makes these big boys the $$$$. For me, the Wii's games all look like rentals (some really cool rentals) but I'll actually be BUYING way more 360 games.
... and I have no interest in the PS realm. Not a hater, it's just not a price point my lame job can afford and there exclusives haven't blown me away.

You've trashed the PS3 for the longest time even as a registered user, so don't get your panties in a bunch if someone decides to stand up for the console you've ridiculed for so long. Being registered doesn't give you any more power, nor does it limit how much and well you can express yourself.
If anything, you guys should be cited for not sticking with the topic at hand which is strictly under the guidelines. How is calling M$ system the XBlowx711 a flame? It's like calling Sony "$ony", Playstation "FailStation", William "Bill", Charles "Chuck", etc, etc, etc. There's nothing wrong with it as long as we know what you're talking about and that you have a personal bias against it.

Okay...
Although bells and whistles have a lot to do with "Next Gen gaming", I would have to disagree with both Thinker and MCS on the Wii. Yes, I think the Wii Remote is a fad to lure non-gamers in. It's not quite perfect, but it's a start in the right direction. Aesthetics have been a main focal point for far too long in the gaming industry, and it's about time Nintendo brings its innovation back onto the table. The Wii is the purest form of gaming, since it doesn't worry about the format war, 1080p connectivity, or DVD playback. That's probably why its pricing point is so low as compared to Sony's or M$'s offerings. It's next-gen gaming in its core with the bare minimum in the power department.
I would definitely buy the Wii. For my parents.
