Wiibrew news: Starfall - Image 1

A few days ago we reported on a video posted by Wiibrew developer Crediar that showed off a hack that unlocked the Wii's services to become region-free. The hack had several other things it unlocked in the Wii that was rather interesting.

I was wondering when Crediar would release the application that allowed this hack, and, well, here it is! Note though, that this hack only works with System Menu 3.2E(v290). This basically serves as a patch rather than a substitute for Nintendo's own system menu, so any patch update would delete all hacks.

Here are the current features the program sports. Please read the documentation included in the download archive for more information.
  • No healthwarning screen
  • Region free GC games with video mode patch
  • Region free Wii games
  • Region free channels
  • No mainmenu BGM
  • Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller
  • Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check
Download: Starfall v0.3

?

I wonder if this works with 3.2U. I want to play japanese wii, gamecube, and virtual console games.

3.2E

Anyone try it on 3.2U? I'm mostly interested in getting rid of the health screen. One less time I gotta press the A button, lol. Also, I'd have to downgrade with Waninkoko's app, so I'd like to know beforehand if it's compatible. Other than that, the rescue mode thing seems interesting. Almost like a recovery mode of sorts. Will our beloved Wii be blown wide open eventually like the PSP? Last thing the Wii needs is less third-party support...

It does

If you read original article, on Wiibrew.org it says: "These hacks only work with the systemmenu 3.2E(v290) or 3.2U(v289)"

Wait, that's v0.4

Hmm, looks like there's a new version out (v0.4) which works with 3.2U, which was the one I was looking at.
