Sony/ATV Music wants a Beatles-dedicated Guitar Hero game - Image 1

Activision recently revealed that the band Aerosmith will be the first one to be featured on a dedicated Guitar Hero video game title. This particular iteration will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and the PlayStation 2.

Quite interestingly, Martin N. Bandier commented that he liked the idea of having a Guitar Hero game focused solely on the Beatles. In case you don't know the guy, he is the top executive at the music publishing company that owns the John Lennon and Paul McCartney copyrights.

The said company is actually ATV Music Publishing LLC and is one of the largest in the world. It worth mentioning, however, that ATV Music is currently in partnership with Sony Corporation of America's music publishing business.

"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," added Bandier. As of this writing, Activision have yet to comment if the deal will push through or not. But we believe that a lot of gamers will be feeling like floating in strawberry fields forever if this pushes through.

If this is popular with people under the age of about 35, then theres really something wrong with the world.

» expansion pack

I love the Beatles as much as the next music fan, but I'm not sure if an entire game dedicated to them would pick up as much as a regular GH title. Perhaps as an expansion pack or something...

» Expansion Pack? No Way

You would be quite surprised, then. Most of the people I talk to in college are Beatles fans. You're talking about a band whose every album every released has at least gone 4x Platinum. Their effects are stronger today more than ever. If they can manage to sell an Aerosmith game, then they can definitely sell a Beatles game no sweat, especially they've been far more successful.

If you need any faith that The Beatles can rock as well as Aerosmith, I point you to "Helter Skelter", my good man. :)

If anything, if they made a Rock Band version of it instead, that would actually be far more entertaining, at least to me, because everyone who enjoys The Beatles especially loves to sing along.

» Musev, you suck man

Considering music has been taking a tumble since the late 70s (with the exception of the early 90s) there's really no shock here.

Beatles still do (and likely always will) be the de facto great band. Being under 35 and liking them means we actually have taste and don't want to hear about killing cops in our music.

is that a person that likes Guitar Hero is probably more likely to like the Beatles than Aerosmith. However, I wouldn't dedicate a whole Guitar Hero game to one band. Period. Doesn't matter if they are the gods of rock or not, variety will clearly appeal to more people. You guys may hit Musev for his comment on the Beatles and I won't deny that a lot of young people still love them. At the same time, however, I am 19 years old and there is no *****ing way in hell I would ever buy a Guitar Hero that focuses on the Beatles. The same applies with Aerosmith.

***** I can't wait for DJ Hero.

» GH?

Really? Cuz I'd a thought the Beatles would be better suited to RB. Don't get me wrong - they rock the git-stix. I consider them to be more along the lines of Greatest Bands rather than Guitar Gods.

I'd rather get a "Best of the Era" game than a band specific game. Neither RB or GH have actually gotten any of the biggies from the classic era yet anyhow... I'm lookin' at you Led, Pink, Jimi, and many many others.

An expansion would be better. All the Guitar Hero games are pretty much alike except for the songs and some band members. A new game would just be a way to make more money.

» Frustrating

I am SO sick about people going on about how music peaked with classic rock. I always hear about how the Beatles started some great and unforgettably liberal revolution.

I am 26 years old... I've had classic rock in my life since the day I was born. (It wasn't classic in 1981, obviously... but that's beside the point)

Ever since I was a kid I thought the Beatles were BORING.

Sloppy, mushy and boring. The music wasn't tight, the vocals were horrid and the lyrics were even worse. An entire game dedicated to "the band of the century" as some peopel put it... would be a great waste of resources.

Okay people. Slander my opinion.
