Ohh I haven't written a mud-slinging article in weeks. This mud-slinging event is from David Reeves, president of SCEE. In an interview, he explains Sony's commitment to quality:

Another thing we have committed to for supporting market growth is putting out quality hardware - you don't grow the market by putting out shoddy machines.

So we try to make sure that PS3s have a failure rate of just two to three percent, which is very low by industry standards.

Taking potshots while Microsoft's down, Sony? While he didn't explicitly mention the Xbox 360, I doubt that he was talking about the Wii. Well he does have a point, whether or not he was talking about the 360; of all the things you can call the PlayStation 3, "shoddy" is not one of them. And he does have good things to say about the competition either way:

On the competition, I will say Nintendo have only done good things. They have expanded geographically and dramatically extended demographically. They have never been afraid to try new products, be that hardware, or software or peripherals.

For Microsoft, again, I can understand that, again, they have put money into the market and have initiated growth. In some ways what they have done is brought forward consumers from next year into this year.

By bringing the price down they are trying to establish themselves quickly, as they did with the first Xbox. But they have built online in a meaningful way and the competition they have brought to the market place is great.

when you buy a PS3 you buy a quality console. when you buy a 360 you get a shoddy console. i wont be surprised if microsoft makes another console cuz they will realize they have a console with old components like a disc tray that scratches. and they make you buy all these add on's that cost more then what they should. Again, if you want a top notch quality console do youself a favour and pick up a PS3 you wont be sorry and it will outlast other consoles out there.

before u class me as a fan boy i own both consoles and my ps3 has lasted considerably longer without problems, microsoft rushed it and they bullsed up, this bad rep they keep getting is their own creation which they still havent fully fixed, if it isnt the xbox 'rod'ing its the power pack 'rod'ing and if it isnt that its problems with the cd drive, not to mention the amount of innocent people that where banned when they scanned the drive speeds, they obviously forgot what drives they were sticking in, although i must admit xbox live is better apart from the price tag to get online and they dont screw different markets on it because of location. sony charge 9.99dollars for crash commando in the usa while were paying about 12 dollars in europe, they have choosen which markets to scam and the problem is they are getting away with it and people are paying the extorinate prices, and it works out on xbox live to be around 5 pounds, just because we have the better system doesnt mean you can exploit us, and its up to us to take a stand on it because else they will continue to do it, and before you reply its only 1 game, you obviously dont have an xbox account and a us psn account, it is blatent on all games. new lbp content is 2.99dollars, where as its 2pound 79 in europe, and that is only the begining or should i say their latest cons not to mention the ps one games, sim city, bowling, wolf of the battlefield, and so on, the list goes on, so really they both have faults just microsoft con you for going online in the first place

Took SONY awhile to say something but they nailed it. It's like comparing a BMW to a Hyundai. Yeah they both have wheels but which one's gonna last. You have to pay for quality. I'm sure the boys at X-Play are gonna be pretty pissed about this one.

I agree in that the xbox360 has a low reliability compared to the ps3. However, your example isn't really correct. BMW is known for expensive repairs and a reliability of about 3-4 years. Hyundai's reliability, on the other hand, has improved alot since the 1980s. In terms of reliability, they are both roughly the same. quality of materials and components, on the other hand, are different.

Anyways, i digress. back onto topic. the difference in price between the 360 and ps3 would explain the quality differences.

I've been looking for any excuse I can find to buy a PS3. Blu-ray alone wont do it for $400, when stand-alone players are only $200.

Untill some of their good games come out in 2009, I'll just have to keep looking for an excuse to buy one. By then they will be cheaper anyways.

I mean that if you're over 12, you must have a substantially bad memory. Is SONY calling out someone on bad hardware? Did everyone forget the Playstation? The Playstation 2?

The PS3 is the first Sony console without major, obscene flaws in its hardware the first year out the door (It helps that, like the original Xbox, they didn't mind making a system that was huge. Oddly enough, MS 'n Sony swapped on that one). Both of its predecessors would either overheat (if you'll remember, most of the PS1's passive, fanless heat vents were on the console's underside, completely ignoring the law of convection) or end up with dead drives (exceedingly common on the PS2).

The difference between Sony and Microsoft? MS actually manned up and decided that they were going to foot the bill for their biggest mistake, the RRoD. Meanwhile, Sony told everyone whose Playstation or PS2 borked out to go buy a new one or pay to have it repaired.

Even the drive issues only sound bad to those without memory of how things were a single generation ago. When the PS2 first arrived, if it was arranged vertically, and a PS2-CD title was put in, it would scratch a ring into it that would render the title unplayable. I saw this happen to a friend of mine when I came over once; it ruined their brother's copy of Tekken Tag (years before 4 or 5 arrived). It didn't scratch while tilting the console, it scratched it while the console was completely stationary and being used as it was intended. Put this in perspective: The Xbox 360 has been out for nearly 3 years now. You can't find an Xbox 360 tray "scratch prevention" pad. The PS2 had those for sale on Hong Kong niche ships six months after it launched.

I'm not an Xbox fanboy, if you wanna go there I'm far more of a Nintendo fanboy, but man, seriously, did everyone forget the ten years of Sony that preceded the PS3?

It all boils down to what games there are. Sure alot of good games are multi-platform, but what exclusives does PS3 have? I just cant justify buying a PS3 solely for MGS4 (was never a fan of that series), LittleBigPlanet , and Drake's Fortune. PS3 might have many good multi-platform games, but I see no exclusives that justify the $400 price.

Quixand, I%u2019m sure everyone with a 360 can afford a PS3 also. Its not about being able to afford it, its being able to justify the purchase. What does PS3 offer me besides blu-ray? I admit I%u2019m interested in high-def movies, but the extra $200 you spend to get the PS3 over blu-ray just doesn%u2019t cover what little top-notch games there are. The fact that you don%u2019t have a 360 shows me that you are either a fan-boy or are too cheap to spend $300 on the most enjoyable gaming experience currently out there.

It's not like I hate the PS3, I want one. It has superior technology that makes it very intriguing. But yet it isn%u2019t the technology we purchase consoles for, it%u2019s the gaming experience. I%u2019ll probably get a PS3 next year when all the exclusive games for it come out. And as I said, the price will most assuredly be cheaper then too. Until then, I%u2019ll have fun playing a couple exclusive games over xbox live and playing the many great multi-platform games that both camps can agree make this a very good year to game.

time and it's been some time since i've posted, and you know why??? it's because of this "no good game" garbage that every 360 fanboy keeps on spewing...

first off if i'm cheap i wouldn't have 27 PS3 Blu aGames in my shelf now and over 90 Blu Ray movies, u don't believe me a ton of QJers regs know me and they can tell you that, as I told you i've been here a long time...

2nd you don't have a PS3 so you must be a fanboy then based on ur analogy, and basically i just replied to someone who brought one a statement first with fanboy logic in it.

that is before and then is now, mistakes were made and apparently lessons learned by Sony are lessons learned by the industry... so what did Sony do??? they progressed from that, look at the PS3 it's rock solid... they improved from the flaws from the last generation.

Microsoft went backwards... and that is a big difference... as foot footing the bill, they had no choice and everybody knows that or things would have gotten ugly..

on a lighter note a "scratch prevention pad" sounds nicer than "towels".

I'f you had actually read what I said, instead of moving your eyes from left to right in what could only be described as a mimic of reading, you would have seen that I said I wanted a PS3. I just can't reasonably justify it with myself that a $400 console is worth what 4 exclusive games are currently out for the PS3.

I'm sorry if you dont think that the quality of a console's game choice makes for a good reason to not purchase a console. I'd be willing to change my mind if you know something I dont about what games are out for a PS3. Whenever I look at the highest rated games and all game lists, I see nothing but the 3 games I listed and a bunch of ports. I am not saying those 3 games arn't any good, they just arnt worth spending $400 to play.

Possibly, since I cant justify my expense in a PS3: neither can you. That is why you have to belittle my responses, its the only way you can live in a fantasy world where the PS3 is a justified purchase.

I guess the PS3 is a good purchase if its your only console, but currently it doesnt play well with the 360. Most of its games are already out on 360, or not worth buying. I can see that the sony fan base hate it when they are pointed out to the fact that all the promised games for the PS3 arnt out yet. Maybe next year they will stop being so defensive, because it sure isnt that way this year.

It's not that the PS3 doesn't have a good games library, it certainly does.

It's just not as good as the 360s library, IMO of course.

Lets face facts, most multi plat titles perform better on 360 (with several notable exceptions of course), and no amount of quality hardware will overcome sub-par programming.

either way, the 360 internal build quality sucks ass.

The only thing the "improved heatsink" accomplished with the v2 Zephyr build is that instead of getting the RROD, you get a HANA encoder chip failure that MS only gives ONE YEAR warranty on.

the reliable consoles don't always win the format war. Look last gen at the xbox being reliable and the PS2 with the dreaded DREs. The PS2 was still bought over Xbox because of the game library.

I own a Ps3 and have played friends' 360s and in my opinion the 30 is slightly better. 360 has more good exclusive games like halo 3, fable 2, left 4 dead, gears of war 2, and many others while the only exlusive games I have found really good on my console are MGS4 and Ninja Gaiden. I prefer the xbox-live service because you can easily find your friend and join their games on a lag-free good looking interface, while on my PS3 is not like that. I do like of my Ps3 that i don't have to pay any monthly fee but I wouldnt mind paying those 50 bucks a year, I find it worth it. One complain I have an both consoles is the price for renting or buying movies, even though its slightly cheaper on live its really stupid that you actually pay for that, especially since you can just download them and/or watch them on your laptop or pc. About quality I give it to my PS3, it has almost a year now and it hasn't given me any troubles, and it hasn't gotten even a scratch. Most of my friends with 360s have gotten RROD in around 2-3 years (and I mean like 60% of them) though all of them got them fixed for free by microsoft and they get their 360 in less than a week after leaving it on the mail office. Controller-wise even though most people prefer the 360 controller I actually prefer the PS3 controller because I have small hands and fingers, also the PS3 controller is better in that it doesnt use AA batteries. Yet, I prefer of the 360 controller that it has rumble feature. Now graphics-wise I have to give it for the 360. Most games I've played look slightly better on the 360, especially the third-party titles, and this is really odd because I have hd-cable on my ps3 and hdtv 1080p and 360s aren't hd. Also, the 360s price is cheaper, though I don't mind the price of the ps3.I really think the 360 is better though the PS3 is still good.

personally i think only two xbox exclusives brings a different experience this gen that is currently not replicated on the PS3 and that is Mass Effect and Fable 2, which is why those are the two things i've really enjoyed in the 360... everything else the experience is not unique on the 360... everything else you can get a similar experience from in other games that could be on other consoles... and Mass Effect was a last year release, so for this year only Fable 2.

I do believe that MGS4 is a unique experience, everybody knows LBP is and although Resistance2 to me isn't really that good and is just another shooter just like EVERY shooter that has come out may it be 1st person, 3rd person, tactical or not still the 60 player multi is unique..

the unique experience of PoP and Mirror Edge is in both console, Fallout is on both as well but I would always play any multiplat game on the PS3 just because I wouldn't have to worry about the possibility of it killing itself.

as for your controller comment, personally i've been holding a PS controller for over 15 years, i mean how more comfortable can you get????

my ps2 works perfectly fine and i got it a year after launch

on the other hand

my xbox i got it about 2-3 years after launch and it went haywire a year ago

shows much about quality, for the most part most of my sony products have proven themselves in being of better quality than anything else

and getting a bit off topic RCA has been another good brand to me

back on topic i would like to go into the library thing but i'm sure others will handle that just fine or so i hope

However, I like how your longest post was the one trying to back up from your surrender. That was easy too.

About games, by your very conservative estimate only 2 games on xbox are 'unique' which ties it with the PS3. So whats so great about the PS3 if it isnt any better in games than the 360. And while LBP might seem 'unique' it sure as hell isnt fun.

And your choice to always pick ported games for PS3 seems like a bad one. All the exclusive content is on the 360, have fun going through fallout for the 4th time.

But this also pops up in the 360 page, because sony is trying to stir up some momentum for the PS3 by bashing 360. Momentum that should be created by a good game release season. Something that has been lacking since the PS3's release.

I do check up on the PS3 section. I really do want a PS3. I think its a sexy piece of hardware, and high-def movies appeal to me.

But it all comes back to the games, I cant find more than 2 games that I would currently want to buy for the PS3. So I check up on the news, hoping that maybe a good game slipped past my radar that makes th PS3 worthing owning ALONG SIDE my 360.

Someone who will actually post something intelligent.

I was thinking that resistence 2 looked enjoyable. FPS games are usually solid games. Besides that I guess MGS4, but I would probably rent it first. I never enjoyed MGS, but its the only game exclusive to the PS3 that came out this year (besides LBP...right?)

Maybe if yall could come up with a list of the top 5 exclusive PS3 games, I would reexamine my idea that the PS3's game library isnt anything to buy a PS3 for.

I dont want to just buy a PS3 and not use it, seems like an aweful waste of money (even if I can afford it). Especially because it will be cheaper by this time next year.

I have to agree with what Quixand is saying.

The argument that the 360 has more or "better" games is a false, idiotic one. Sure there are more titles available for it, but if anything the PS3 has a more popular range of games (that are played more) than the 360.

It is funny though how you have this really

'solid' view about the PS3 when you don't even own one. Heres a thought - why don't you go out and buy one and play it for a few months before making comments about it and comparing your 360 to it? Until then, you really have no reason to comment on the quality of its games range.

Why does everyone say I should just buy a PS3 just to test it out? Do I need to put my hand in a blender before I know its going to hurt? No, its called foresight. I'm not saying anything about 360 being better than PS3, all im saying is that there are more high-production games for 360 than there are for PS3. I would love to be wrong about this, as I would go out and buy that PS3 and all such games. As it stands now though, I wait untill fall 09 and hope for a change.

Well you could get some cheap exclusives right now, theres Warhawk and Ratchet and clank which are great and you could get Uncharted, those games are all under 40 bucks right now. Trust me if you owned one you'd use it, and you could go right into home and join a bunch of War hawk and Resistance 2 clubs. Plus youd have a nice blu ray player for movies if you have a HDTV.

i miss those times.

people didn't need to register back then so more gamers post stuff and the PS3 was new so the xbox fans were really defensive and really into it and the PS3 fans just got their credit cards swiped so they wouldn't take it lying down.

Is a beautiful machine, finely crafted and it oozes quality. The media playback is excellent and the open platform for installation of Linux and use of 3rd party peripherals is commendable. But in the 3 years since I've owned next gen consoles I've probably used it about 1/10th as much as I've used my 360. I'm on my second 360 (both are working now because of the warranty) and I was not best pleased when I got the RROD but the console has seen that much more use than the PS3 that I can actually justify the cost of it breaking more often. Yes, reliable hardware will always make sense... But, when faced with a bigger library of games I actually want to play, I'll sacrifice some of that reliability.

It's sad to see Sony's lead in this console market diminished so quickly, but they've made some fundamental mistakes this time round. I won't ever regret buying my PS3 as a media hub for the lounge, but as a gaming machine it isn't living up to the hype. Combine this with the lukewarm PSP and I can understand why there are a few nervous gaming companies about.

Oddly, Nintendo, the forgotten console last time round has utterly nailed it this time. Based on simple technology with a few gimmicks they've actually opened gaming as a market up to those people who would never have bought a console in the past. They're reaping the benefits now. Their family friendly agenda has never looked too healthy when compared to the shoot em up in your face markets of the more recent consoles... But now they have family gamers and first time console buyers on their side they're not looking too stupid.

I hope Sony can recover with their reliable PS3, I really do, I have friends who depend on it... The console is great, it just needs some titles to sell it to the average consumer.

ps3 can play all types of media. No matter what anyone in ur family is into they'll find something on the ps3. And if you really want to feed that TV you'll need a blu-ray player. On a 50 inch TV the diff between a DVD and a blu-ray is ALL too obvious. Its kinda like going to an optometrist after 10 years and getting new glasses...

As for games, LittleBigPlanet + family fun. ANyone of ANY age will enjoy it. I'm a 17 year old guy whose other fav game is MGS4, and I love LBP!!! Of course Metal Gear Solid 4 is in a league of its own. The way that story is told, and the revolutionary gameplay is just amazing.

we play Guitar Hero World Tour sometimes but the entire set is costly, also it could be played on other consoles as well so if you already have a Wii, you can just get the game on that console and it's cheaper as well.

Buzz is exclusive on the playstation and it is quite fun to play as well, when i bought mine i got the bundle that would include the wireless buzzers and it is a pretty good deal as well.

Little Big Planet is fun there is something for everybody, my wife's little sister spends a lot of time just customizing her sackboy/girl cause that's what she does... you can all play endless amount of levels and make some of them yourselves if you want.

and their singstar.

pls note that some of these games can be experienced on the PS2 as well.

a lot of platinum games which are very cheap are in the market already so you can buy ur kids rachet and clank and maybe drake and heavenly sword if they are a old enough for some bit of gun and sword play.

there are also a lot of games which u can use a Playstation Eye for which ur family can enjoy, some of them can be downloaded... which reminds me a lot of games can be downloaded which ur family can try like Calling All Cars, Pixel Junk, Super Rub a Dub, Everyday Shooter etc and they only cause a couple of pocket change.

I have a Ps3 and an Xbox 360. Yes, I would admit that the Xbox 360 does currently have a more extensive game library and of course it has more exclusive games because it's been out longer.

Now, in my opinion I thought Halo 3 was a step back and in all honesty I found it quite boring. Saying that Metal Gear solid 4 wasn't perfect but was a fantasic game.

My Xbox 360 disk drive started to scratch my disks and has needed to go back to repair as did my original Xbox.

Saying that my Ps2 had disk read errors but i must say I bought my Ps3 at launch and it has never given me any problems what so ever. I'm a big street fighter Fan and i Could never use my Xbox 360 pad to play it, it has the worst D-pad on any Console to date, although i Prefer playing shooters on it rather than my Ps3 pad. Overall I've always loved the Playstation pad, starting from PS1

Both have Strenghs and both have weaknesses

I love my PS3 and I love my Xbox 360. I often have to convince myself what system I want to turn on first because I usually just stick with that system until i'm done playing. I've had two 360s, not because one of them failed but because I wanted the elite model so I sold the original I bought on release day to a friend. I've had 3 PS3s (I'm not even kidding) and no, its not because they broke either. My first one I gave to my brother over seas and the second one did break but it was because my niece bumped into it and it fell off 3 feet. Not her fault and not sony's fault. I guess what I'm saying is, I like both systems enough to buy the hardware over and over again if needed.

I have both systems the 360 elite and the metal gear solid special edition 80gig. I dont play games on my ps3 anymore because its not worth it right now. there are no games out right now that wow me enough to go buy at the store. If im going to buy a game im going to get my money'swort. All the 360 games have achievements meaning i can go back and replay the game to earn cool achievements which are viewed by my firends. A ps3 game all i do is play it finish it and of to gamestop to sell it. PS3 takes the cake hands down when it comes to machine quality, the PS3 is sleek and stylish, it's built tough, it's build to last, it's build with top notch technology, it's definitely the big cannon, but Microsoft has the games.

PS3 has a couple games coming and it's got few under its belt that can rival games like Gears or halo. (to name only a few)

Thing is, in the world of video games not always the best machine will win. Example?

Ps1 won over N64, PS2 won over Xbox, Snes won over Genesis (much better visuals on the genesis [initially!])

I can explain to you the current situation in a non biased way.

First Microsoft released their console 1 full year before Sony and Nintendo. They also used cheap parts (low production cost=low retail price) They also secured many exclusive deals, they also broke some Sony exclusivity; RE5, DMC4, FF13...etc. AND IMO the biggest advantage of all, Xbox Live, which is the undisputed champion when it comes to online play, it's a cheap, reliable and most convenient system, and it's super well integrated to the core of the xbox experience. All of this gave them their position as leader right now.(well deserved)

BUT! Many of these advantages are also factors that could potentially kill them in the long run as it lacks a built in HD reader, which gives more storage space (bigger games). Imagine if GTAIV had been a PS3 exclusive, I'm convinced the game would be better than it is right now. More music, more tv content, more missions, more voice overs, maybe it wouldn't be out now though, but I'm just thinking here, imagine PS3's position if it had GTA to itself.

Now comes the early release, YAY 1 year of sales before you even sell one ps3! YAY indeed, but it then comes with older tech, with more design flaws and with all the known XB360 issues.

Then, we have the models themselves, MS started with a 20GB hard drive disk, then came the 120 GB then the 60GB, some might think HDDs aren't a big issue, but with Xbox Live and all it's wonder a big HDD is a must for any serious gamer. If you get a Xb360 at launch you most definitely got a 20GB HDD which is now obselete (Rockband DLC anyone?)

Really, the situation here is what it is, MS leads, Nintendo follows. I can't say it leads because it's truly crap, they ruined so many good possibilities... take Zelda for example, imagine if Zelda was like Assassin's Creed (in thems of world and visuals), imagine if they made it as photo realistic, imagine if it had as much intensity [you can't deny the quality of AC, even with its repetitive gameplay, as big of a flaw it can be. Sony follows with slow sales but a definite plan and a good selection of games built by 1st parties.

Really, this generation brought the best and the worse, ON each consoles.

Nintendo whored... (screw you for becoming baby toy makers, still they made Mario Galaxy which is THE best Wii game, a good example of what Nintendo should always do!)

Microsoft rocketed in game quality... but buttsexed everyone (OMG Gears, Microsoft went to Japan anc came back with Capcom as a fierce ally, then charmed Square!)

Sony brain farted many times, they underestimated their competition, but they concentrate on their stuff and they deliver on their good games.

I always wanted a PS3, I thought the PS3 was top notch hardware, which dont get me wrong it is. But...I had to settle for a 360 because all my friends were begging me to go out and buy one. So I did. I've had mine for two years now and I have yet to have a single problem with it. I don't like the 360 because of Halo (which is not that great of a game really....) I like it because of the quality of games and the variety of games. To me....the 360 is like the new PS2 it has alot of great games and in many varieties. My cousin has a PS3 and I play with him alot and to me its not really what I expected it to be in terms of games. The new Home thing is really neat, but as other people have said before its more for entertainment like Blu Ray videos and such. When people say the 360 sucks because you have to pay for your online you really have to think about that. When you pay for your online (which 60 bucks a year isn't even that bad) it gives the people at MS a better incentive to create better software, like the regular Dashboard updates with sometimes great features, and better online games. For me when I play there is rarely any problems with the servers of games and if there are Microsoft fixes them pretty quickly. So as much as I wanted a PS3 and as much as I like it. I have to say the 360 is the better system gaming wise. They both have their pros and cons and I'm pretty sad the way the PS3 is turning out to be because its hardware itself should have had all the software developers making games for it left and right.

If your a gamer i mean a hardcore gamer just get an xbox360 elite. If you kinda wanna use it for movies get netflix and stream the thousands of tittles available. If you love HD graphics and blu ray the PS3 is the system for you voted number 1 by Cnet and many other home entertainment magazines just google best blu ray player and wham PS3. I love my PS3 cause its a blu ray player works perfect with my 120Hz samsung 1080p tv and yes i can a see a big difference with 120Hz you get a 3D effect. The only games worth playing on the PS3 in my opinion are Drakes furtune, Singstar, rachet and clank and my PS2 library of games with plenty of RPG's.

Not only do I *NOT* need to shell-out $150 for Gold memberships (as I would have to if it were 3 360's), but I can also take that same single purchase of Crash Commando (be it $9.99 in the States, or $12.99 in Europe) and install and use it simultaneously on all 3 consoles. ---Try that with the "DRM Kings" and "Nickle-and-Dime Masters" at Microsoft. :-O

if you want a good reason for a PS3, why don't you look at the fact that from the start, the PS3 has been wireless, (apart from the 20gig) had HDMI, had a hard drive built in(unlike another rival console), and never have to buy batteries for the controllers.........ever.

at least you didn't have to wait for these things to be put in internaly.

yeah i know it did'nt have a great start, but it's a LOT better now. anyone who says different, is speaking through their rear hole.

Because I got my PSP a week after launch, and other then one dead pixel, it's worked perfectly ever since. It has be dropped from 2-3 feet at least 6 times and 3-5 feet 3 times, and I've sat on it countless times (forgot it was in my back pocket when I sit down on bus)....works great...

1gen xbox, bought one at launch as well, still works (heavly mod'd, opened many times), xbox 360, mine died after 2 years(never opened). So ya.....I think you have to go by overall statistics, not personal experience as far as system quality goes.

Games, Well IGN did an article that averaged out scores of games on the 3 consoles for 2008 (their scores obviously, but IGN is generally fair) and PS3 scored Highest in everything, 360 2nd and of course Wii had the most worst games....So I don't think it's valid to say PS3 has worse games, maybe a few less, but they are of overall better quality as well.

PS3 didn't lose FF13, it went multiplatform. It had nothing to do with the PS3s user base. Having the game made for both systems increases their chances to earn higher profits, which is why Bioschock, lost planet and ninja gaiden were ported to the PS3.

has not bee a bad year for the PS3, it's been quite good for games. I too have close to 30 games for my PS3, all high scoring on the metacritic ratings (90% of them score above 80 - none below 70). There could be more titles in my collection but games like Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 and the new PoP have no interest for me.

Sure the 360 has some media capabilities but I (as a media type of person) prefer being able to stick over 280GB worth of HD films on the internal HDD (500GB) without having to rely on external drives or streaming from a PC. Being able to copy music from the PC is also great, instead of having to rip from a CD which I may or may not own.

The media capabilities of the 360 are a not as extensive as as the PS3's.
