Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity to have 18 playable characters, gravity control |
Ó
The last time we heard about Sonic's next-gen racing title for the Nintendo Wii, Sega's Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, we got an eyeful of some very sweet eye-candy that pretty much tells us that we're going to be in for a harder and faster ride than its predecessor ever gave us. Now, we get you some much-needed info that talks about what's new with the blue hedgehog this time around, and from what it tells us, we're not just going to mess with speed, but with gravity as well.
Yes, you heard that right. Not only will Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity be faster and harder than ever before, but it will also give players the ability to muck around with the current track's gravity with a simple press of a button. By performing tricks and excelling in technical challenges, players will be able to gain Gravity Points - and it's these points that let you enter a zero-gravity environment that lets Sonic (or any other of his fellow racing competitors) perform some very neat and very awesome feats.
These feats are called Gravity Control and Gravity Dive. Gravity Control lets the player change the law of gravity in a track - which means any surface of the track, be it the roof or the walls, can become the actual track itself. This then gives the player an enormous advantage over the other racers, as some of the tracks have walls that offer shortcuts and alternative pathways.
Gravity Dive is a bit more special, and just a little bit cooler. Gravity Dive creates the ultimate speed boost by taking advantage of a Black Hole's vacuum. Needless to say, it makes the track an obstacle course that only you can control, with you having the ability to grind cars and other debris in mid-air for extra awesome and extra speed.
That's not all, though. Besides featuring 18 characters to choose from, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity also gives the player the ability to upgrade his or her own ride, as well as an option to switch up vehicles in mid-race. So whatever the track environment, players will be prepared to tear it up and leave the competition in the dust.
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is definitely looking good - here's hoping the developers give it the amount of polish it deserves come its release date of Winter 2008. To see the game in action, you can check out the title's official website at the read link below.
