SNK Playmore USA - Image 1In an interview with IGN, Ben Herman, president of SNK Playmore USA, commented on his love for Nintendo's "new-gen" console. Known for his ability to flow a lot of words that could make reading an interview like viewing spaghetti code, Herman somehow was able to insert a praise for the Wii in his statement.

When asked what new titles from popular SNK franchises gamers could expect soon and where they'd eventually stay, he said that many factors were involved in deciding which platform to debut a totally new arcade release. With the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360, he stated that graphics for the games had to be re-written to comply with high-definition requirements.

While he did state that they are "definitely looking at all the platforms," he found that the Wii was better suited to the task of bringing the old feel of Neo Geo games and the arcade feel altogether. He stated:

We felt that Wii would do very well early on for a number of reasons - obviously the price point - but the controllers have really made that the darling of the industry. I can't tell you how many friends I have that know what I do, and [they] talk constantly about bowling and tennis. It's fun. I grew up in gaming, and it used to be about bringing the arcade home. Now it's about what you can do next, and I think Nintendo has done a great job with Wii in doing that.

Chalk another one up for the Wii, ladies and gentlemen.
