SNES controller hits Japan in January |
Ó
If you got all excited with the latest sightings of the Nintendo SNES classic controller accessory for the Wii, you might have to settle down a bit because it isn't likely to land in North American shores anytime soon. The SNES-themed accessory is a Japanese exclusive at this point.
According to Gamebrink, Club Nintendo members in Japan will be the first to grab this peripheral along with some other goodies. The SNES controller is projected to come with a Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack CD and a nice Mario calendar for 2008.
Anyone in Japan can be a Club Nintendo member for a set amount of Wii points spent. There hasn't been an announcement for North American Wii fans, so that means we'll have to wait and see.

Comments [refresh]
nintendo just loves re-releasing stuff.
Don't they already have the "classic" controller?
Of course, that's not compatible with Gamecube games for some reason, (greed.)
What's the point of this? Are VC games not compatible with the classic controller so you have to buy another?
Since Nintendo is the only company that can actually sell games, systems, and accessories from the recycle bin for profit, why not milk idiotic consumers for everything they're worth!
@Mister Common Sense,
As usual, something must be explained to you.
nos·tal·gia [no-stal-juh] –noun
1. a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time: a nostalgia for his college days.
2. something that elicits or displays nostalgia.
What's the point of 99.99% of all consumer products?
If people didn't WANT IT then they wouldn't buy it. So as usual your comments are based on ignorance.
I have a SNES, and it cost less than this controller probably would, not including VC games and the Wii.
So yes, this is recycled garbage.
"and it cost less than this controller probably would"
I doubt that. You might enjoy your old crap but others might want to move forward with a new console and a fun new controller.
Your hardware is on it's last leg so don't be surprised if no one cares about your old equipment.
It might be "useless" to you but it's not to others. As for your blanket use of the word "garbage", your lack of understanding of the English language shines bright.
