Nintendo Wii Homebrew (Wiibrew): Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear EmulatorEmulators seem to be the name of the game in Wiibrew these days. Wii homebrew developer eke-eke has released build 01/06/2008 for the SMSPlus Project, an emulator for the Sega Master System and the Sega Game Gear, on the Wii.

This build has several great new features, including emulation of the Light Phaser peripheral. Neat eh? This build can also load a game directly from an SD card, and supports .zip files as well.

Here's what else is new in this version as taken from the release thread:
  • accurate Sega Master System & Game Gear Emulation with sound
  • FM unit emulation (Japanese Master System)
  • 2 Players support
  • Savestate support (compressed, saved on MCARD and SDCARD)
  • Load a game from SDCARD or DVD (4.7GB support for Wii users)
  • SMS BIOS support
  • 3D glasses faking
  • Light Phaser & Paddle emulation
  • internal Game Database for automatic configuration
  • Zipped rom support (.zip only)
  • Original NTSC & PAL progressive rendering modes (240p/288p) support
  • Interlaced (576i/480i) & Progressive (480p) TV mode support
  • Wiimote, Nunchuk & Classic Controller support (WII mode only)
  • full Overscan area (horizontal & vertical colored borders) emulation
Don't forget to read the documentation included in the download archive before installing the program.

» Now...

...can anyone tell me why this stuff doesn't happen on the PS3(non-linux)(...yet)?

» Nope...

I've tried this on the Wii. The GC Controller works great, but you can't use the Wii Remote or Classic Controller on it... it doesn't even recognize them.

Unless I'm doing something wrong... what is Wii Mode? Is that just using it on the Wii?
