Today's Smash Bros. DOJO update should really get stoke the fans' interest in the game. It's about an entire new mode for Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, called The Subspace Emissary, and it's the single-player counterpart to the game's fun multiplayer action.

Subspace Emissary is a side-scrolling single-player game that plays much like the multiplayer aspect, except you get to focus on aspects of character development as well as action. As Nintendo's information page for Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary explains,

The Adventure mode also emphasizes character development. YouÂ’ll see many famous characters persevering under the weight of their personal histories, shouldering their unique burdens... It's really something you won't see anywhere else. With so many wonderful characters appearing together, it's like a dream action game. WeÂ’re putting tons of fighting spirit into making this game, so I hope you're all looking forward to it.

In any case, you can check out screens of Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The Subspace Emissary, as well as see a quick teaser video featuring Mario, Kirby, Princess Zelda, and Princess Peach below. Enjoy!

» 4 month for you...

Probably about another 8 away for us in the UK. Really wish there was a Wii freeloader. (Not including modchips, I havent had good experiences with those sorts of things before and I'm not trying anything like that on my Wii.)

» Awesome!

This looks like a great addition to the game. The Adventure mode in Melee was good, but it lacked any real story or depth.

One question that I still have is whether you start with a chosen character and play through the same story, or if the character you choose has his/her own specific story, or maybe the mode involves switching characters throughout the story.

Nevertheless, its a great update!

» yes.....i knew it

I said it would be an adventure storyline. Now that i got a Wii (finally) i just gotta wait. Man.....HAL (sakurai) keeps juicing up the game. Without HAL, where will nintendo be? Greatest update so far (the best)

» sorry to bust your bubble but this hurt me as much as it might hurt you

HAL isn't making the game. the head of hal resigned or retired or something of that matter but a new team(most of which are from hal) who are being called the studio is working on it and do have access to all of the resources from melee to work with so im sure they'll keep it good and live up to everyones expectations

» oh yeah

I completely forgot. your right. so if it's not Hal, then its going to say "game made by the studio" instead of hal or is 'studio' just a code name? thanks for clearimg that up for me
