We know that The Sims Wii is being developed to appeal mostly to the Japanese audience. As cute as these chibis are, we wonder how this shift in game design will affect the series in general. Not that EA's moves are questionable but judging from the trailers and the screenshots we've seen so far, Sims Wii looks and feels utterly different.

Aside from the graphics though, there are no problems with the new version. More than anything, it seems like EA even kicked the game up a notch for it to fully qualify as a next-gen title. The developers promised that a great construction control will be provided for the game, with the Wiimote replicating PC's mouse control. So for most of the part, it is still about pointing, picking up, dragging and dropping.

Furthermore, players will be able to construct houses for their own use, as well as for other residents and businesses. EA also mentioned that players will be given the option to decide on how to populate their world. We do not know what you'd say about this, but Mii avatars can't be used in the game. Players will be able to generate sims through a detailed character creator.

Lastly, EA is still silent regarding the game's online functionality and the previously talked about DS connectivity. Sims Wii, as of today, has only been announced to be released in Japan. We here in North America, still have our fingers tightly crossed.

People actually thought it were using Miis? The characters don't look like Miis at all, except for being small. >_>

o.o

I really don't give a care about the graphics, in fact I adore the chibi look. =3 Erm, but will it still have all of the qualities of the sims, or is it completely being reduced to a 'kiddy' game? Gah, I have to read on this more. >.
